Just wondering is there any way to get a windows modem to work in red hat linux, other than buying a new linux modem.

First off there is now such thing as a linux modem. They are called hardware modems.

This has been covered on this board before, more than once.

But in a nutshell, there are some winmodems that have had linux drivers made for them. http://www.linmodems.org is a good reference site for winmodems and modems in general for linux.

You need to find the chipset of the modem and work from there.
Most if not all Lucent chipset winmodems will work under linux and are probably your best bet. So if its a lucent chipset modem your in luck and you more than likely wont have to buy a new modem.

    Regards,

    Paul
