    Hi
I've recently got a uk free to air BBC card . It has been activated with sky but when the card it slotted into the Digibox , i get a card read error ( not sure exactly of the message as i'm not at the system at the moment .)when i go to system details it says no number opposite the " viewing Card No. " box.
I presume the card is dead . I'm unable to get in touch with the guy who ordered the card , has anyone else seen card read errors and has anyone any solutions

    Thanks
    Dave

I had a problem. Bought a Panasonic db30 on yahoo last November. Ordered my BBC card, but it didn't arrive for a while. When it eventually did arrive I got the same 'no number' in the viewing card details section. Tried it with my other card. Still nothing. Was told that the card reader was seperated from the motherboard. Rang around about repairing it and was told it would be cheaper to buy a new box. Since the time passed from purchasing the box and the testing of it was greater than 30 days, the seller didn't want to know. Said they'd sell me another one for stg£110. They sell a lot of satellite stuff on yahoo. Made a complaint to yahoo, but they said that they couldn't do anything either. They recommended I post negative sales feedback. Just grinned and bared it and took my loss. One of the disadvantages of buying over the net. First and only problem I've had over the last few years. Turned out to be the most expensive. Moved house over the last few months, so I took out a new sky sub, got a Pan 31 and married the BBC card to the new box.

Hopefully yours turns out not to be the same problem.

    Trev.

I know this may seem as an insult, it isn't meant to be. Is the card being inserrted the right way up...? I had this after my granddaughter put it in upside down and it took me 2 days to realise what had happened!

The DSB30s have a fairly common problem of the card reader becoming loose. Open it up, and try reseating the components, specifically the bit that touches the contacts on the viewing card.
