I seem to have a problem with my mini dish - its like a magnet for birds - bits of twigs, leaves etc are being inserted into the brackets at the back of the dish by them - I would assume trying to build a nest.

Anybody else have the problem ?

any ideas of how to stop this happening apart from an AK47 ???:D

Just move the dish and paint it lime green, birdies dont like that colour.

Cover the lnb arm + bracket in grease or else tie somthing that will move in the breeze (like strips of plastic or tinfoil), that'll keep em away.

The other option is to get a long extension lead, take the socket off the end and hook that bad boy up. 220V of the ESBs finest and a bit of sizzle and stir sauce.... mmm

Can you really paint a mini dish ??

You can as long as you use non metallic paint.

Im not in the habit of issuing advice that could leave me in a tenuous/libel position.

I said some stoopid $hit once here before and was rightly rifled for it.

I have all my big dishs painted as they were all originally white and one melted an LNb completely.
    My dishs are very "camp"....

The Cigarette Smoking Man: i fricken love that suggestion, but surely you might get voltage feedback through the coax or a build up of heat on the dish and melt the LNb stucture?

Laf ! you know what you need to do ?...use an old analog dish as a decoy and set it up right next to the digital dish and paint them the same colour.

Now if a crow lands on your digital dish, instead of screaming 'You fluckin' ba$ket!' you will calmly say 'you lucky ba$tard'

On that note, I wonder if you could please setup a webcam so we can watch the birdies get zapped? and prehaps a high-speed shutter camera zoomed in to see the expression on the crow's face when he lands. I will part-fund this project if so required!

..Annnnnd, if there is a Chinese resturant nearby, you could make some money for yourself with the 'pre-heated' chicken, erm crows.

    buy fur now,

Wouldn't the crow need to be touching a grounded object as well as the electrified dish to get zapped? ;)

I was thinking of that so, what ya do is run a grid of flexible wire mesh floating over the dish's surface.

Live goes through the dish and neutral through the mesh.

When the burdie drops down, he pushes the mesh against the dish and heypresto! CHICKEN! Done in a flash! a Blue one, naturally.

Only problem I can forsee is annoying crowds outside your house cheering for the next burd to arrive its doom and aiding this by throwing breadcrumbs up on your roof.

Dont worry though, a 'clean-up squad' of cats should be on standby to clean up the mess after the bright flash.

(if you mean EM interference to signal) -> Nope, not when I said this was going to be the decoy satellite dish :)

(if you mean mesh touching, etc) -> Nope ;)
