Sorry, if it's been asked before but has anyone got the 2nd subscription
from sky, in Ireland or is it available outside the U.K. yet.

The cheap mirror subscription is not available here yet. If you get a second box and want another subscription you will have to pay full price.

I have a problem with paying the extra for this service(even though I probably will for a while when it comes)
In that its a disadvantage of digital television,it encourages more greed by the likes of the Sky digital monopoly.
Fair enough to insist on a phone connection, so as to ensure the 2nd box is in the same household-but having to pay extra for it is a money making racket:mad:
Unless of course the extra was only for a year or so and Sky gave you a second box for it.

:( Yeah, found out today from Sky themselves firstly) yes its available then later phone call oh, sorry who ever gave you that info. was wrong why can they get it right first time.

Anyway what I wanted to do was to get rid of NTL, having digibox in sitting room connecting 2 front bedrooms, them the 2nd sub would power dining room and back bedroom and kitchen, well I suppose they'll have to introduce it soon.

My brother went ahead and payed £300 for his digibox then a month later Sky introduced the free box in ROI.

    Hi.
    This is my first post.
I have been reading posts on this forum for some time now.

OK, so the day is near when we get the Irish channels on our digiboxes.

I cancelled my Chorus subscription a few months back. I don`t regret this even though I "lost" ITV & Ch4.

I have since managed to get my hands on a FTV card, which more than made up for that.

Now I am faced with the big problem.

Up to a while ago I would watch the football on one TV while her indoors watched something else on the other TV. But now when the football is on I (she) don`t have this option. So my question is. Will it be possible in the near future to be able to watch different channels from the same box on two different TVs? Because if not, would I be better off trying to get my hands on a second box & useing the FTV card in one & my sub. card in the other?
    Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

If your FTV card is married to you Irish box-leave it in that all the time and get a cheap box on e-bay without card and then ask sky to marry your Irish card then to your "new" e-bay box.
You will need a second cable run and a dual or quad lnb for the "new" box.

    Thanks Madman.

When you say "cheap" how much are you talking about?

Managed to "win" an Amstrad digibox for £67 Stg. (£80 Incl. postage) on E-Bay.
    Expecting delivery soon. :o).
Now what`s it to be - second dish or dual LNB?
I only have standard size dish.

A dual lnb should be fine
    Don't get a second dish

    Received my second box today.
Have to wait to get it set up but had to see if it was working ok.
Set it up in place of my original box. As expected it took a while for listings to appear. But I also noticed that it took ages to go from menu to menu. Is this because the box was idle for some time? I only had it set up for 10 minutes, but even pressing "page down" resulted in a 15 second wait. It would not be the end of the world, but will this "lag" stop once it is operating for a while?
