This was done before on the Film Board but what the hell.

Its got to be Dr. Strangelove (or : How I learnt to stop worring and love the bomb)

    Gandalf.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 393 ✭✭JaneyMackers

K well only film there thats worth a mention is Dr Strangelove. and maybe Blade Runner.

I'll have to give 3 in order.

    1.)Godfather part2
    2.)The Sting
3.)Ben Hur. [if only for the chariot race scene] and the scene with 12.000 extras.

Hmmmmmm, The Lion King was pretty good but I'd say Pochahontas snatches it.

Have to agree with MP there. BladeRunner is the best, but the original cut, not the directors cut. There were some great extra camera passes, but taking out the voice over was a huge mistake...it added so much atmosphere!!!!!!!

I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite, but I have a few that are way ahead of the rest:

    Pulp Fiction
    Shawshank Redemption
    Blues Brothers (cool music smile.gif)
The three Indiana Jones films (in particular, The Last Crusade)

The Matrix doesn't feature anywhere tongue.gif

Blade Runner - though I must disagree with Osi, I thought the voiceover ruined the movie.

Brazil - another movie which you have to see the directors cut of...

Princess Mononoke/Laupta - Can't choose between two great Hayao Miyzaki movies. And while we're in the orient, Ran or Seven Samurai...

The Matrix - best movie in years; since T2, actually.

The Basketball Diaries - another super movie which has the benefit of being chillingly true...

It's pretty tough to decide on a favourite.

Comedy: Has to be Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
    Austin Powers a runner-up
Sci-Fi: Matrix or Star Wars (Episode IV). Aliens a very close runner-up.
    Action: The Usual Suspects!!!
Fightclub (loved that twist in the end).
    Drama: Shawshank Redemption.

I know I'm leaving out loads of really good flicks, but it's really hard to decide!!!

    All the best,

    Schindler's List
Anything by Spielberg at all, except that Wings movie from 1989.
    2001: Space Oddessy
    Thin Red Line
Go! was a really cool movie
    Python and the Holy Grail
Anything with the great Mr Kevin Spacey
    Anaconda
Bound (the matrix was crap though ppl smile.gif )

Do ppl actually get the ending of fight club, i had to explain it to loadsa ppl, why mr. pitt died and mr. norton didn't!

    Mind you they were mostly women, and they were the same women that thought ickle Anakin Skywalker was Luke Skywalker in the new star wars {!}

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly followed closely by The Matrix and Apocalypse Now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 418 ✭✭Chris Hansen

I come from the future, the next two matrix films arent great, although hang in there for the Dark Knight, and the final Harry Potter films.

Although you'll only have one eye to watch them with due to what we survivors call the "incident". Bet you wish you sent more of those Chernobyl-Sellafield postcards to Tony Blair now eh?
