2nd free digibox???

As an alternative to getting a digibox off ebay and using a FTV I was wondering if Sky would give me another free digibox if I sign up for another 12 months.

I want to have a box with a normal subscription in one room and a box with a bbc card in another.
So if I cancel my current subscription and ring up to subscribe again, will they give me the second free box.

My current subscription has past the twelve months so if I get another, the installation price will cost less than buying a second hand box and quad lnb, and I willl have a brand new box. Although I will have two dishes on the side of the house, i don't really mind.

I know they say the free dish and digibox offer is limited to one per household, will they realise?

thanks to anyone who can help.

When u go to sign up for a NEW s** subscription u will be asked if a S** already exists at your address. If u say no and the instaler turns up and sees the S** dish he will be suspicious. It may not be in his interest to turn a blind eye.

Also when u cancel your exsiting S** subscription then the card will be made USELESS so u will not receive any of the FTV(free to view) channels but u will get a few FTA(free to air).

Your best bet is to get a second box with a FTV card and then put a DUAL lnb on the existing dish, need a new lead, and way u go.

Or wait until SKY+ becomes available in the summer and then u will get a super new box, a quad lnb, keep your old box, have a mirror subscription etc etc.

If u need anymore help say so

Well at the moment I am swapping between my Sky and FTV card, so I think I will just get a local installer and hope they don't care.
    thanks

    tony

how do u manage to use 2 cards with 1 box. I did not think it was possible as I was always led to believe that each card was married to each individual box!!

    Can u share your method.

Oh yeah, thats what most people are doing.
It's possible to have a BBC card matched to your box, even if theres already a Sky ROI sub on it already.
It's too much hassle for regular cross checks at the moment.

I was wondering the same thing. I paid 400 pounds for sky digital 2 and a half years ago. I was hoping to get a brand new sony box because my other one is to slow. Does any one know what the situation is about this?

Yeah you can have more than one card married to your box, although I don't think taking the cards in and out all the time is much good to them.
