i just booked a flight to london for july and im sickened, ryanair.ie had the flight for 9 euros each way 18 euros in all, then they charged me over 50 euros tax, i dont understand this at all, isnt tax meant to be a percentage of the total value, even if they charged 100% tax it still should hae been 38 euros, isnt this false advertising?

The Tax is different for each airport.
Each airport has a passenger handling charge which varies a lot. Also the Uk air passenger duty is very severe at £20 stg a head.

Even if you got the seats for €0.01 you would still have to pay the tax.

I was under the impression it is illegal to quote prices excluding tax in adverts? Why is no one doing anything about this?

Yup Mr Bond is correct about the taxes even if you paid zero for the flight you'll always be stung quite serverly for dublin and london airport charges plus Irish and UK gov taxes.

As for the advertising I gather from your post (Bombidol) that you were actually purchasing it on the ryanair.ie website; hence it's not advertising 'per se'. As far as I'm aware any actual advertising must show the total cost including taxes etc.. and I believe Ryanair do this now (whilst they weren't so up front about it in the past).

You do see exactly what you're being charged for on the website before you're commited to buying...
