well I'm very much leaning towards Spain for me hols this year, never been (always seem to go to France 'cos my sis lives there).
So I'm looking for some ideas.....
I would like to see some moorish places, I heard they're amazing, we will probably hire a car so we can get around a bit - I am not into two weeks on the beach baking, I prefer to see the countryside and get a feel for the place.
I would also like to spend a few days in a city so I can party - ie. dinner, pub, nightlife etc....

I speak enough french to get by no problem and which you most defo need when in France, will I have hugh difficulties in Spain as I know sweet fanny adams about the lingo!

any suggestions would be great! :D

i would highy advise going to the san fermin festival in pamplona in early july - (where they run the bulls thru the town each morning). its a 24hr street party like nothing on earth (except for mardi gras or rio probably).
it makes paddy's day in dublin look like a funeral (no exaggeration)

official site is here - http://www.sanfermin.com

i'm hoping to go again this year and will consider selling a kidney if i have to.

also went to madrid and barcelona for a few days each, both wonderful cities for culture and partying. the sagrada familia cathedral in barcelona is not to be missed if you go there

regrettably i didnt have time to go to southern spain but the alhambra palace is meant to be amazing and by far the most famous remnant of the moorish culture in spain

    have a look here - http://www.vivagranada.com

lingo is no problem - "cerveza por favor", seriously tho just learn a few common phrases and how to count. most younger spanish people have at least a little english but you shouldnt have any probs anyway.

oh, and did i mention you should go to the san fermin? :D

My sister is just back from Madrid, Toledo (Moorish Castle?) and Salamanca and gave a generally good report of all three.
