Beckham is out for 6 to 8 weeks with a broken bone in his foot. what will this do to Uniteds championship chances and his World Cup chances? Ferguson has his doubts about the World Cup.

Teletext on ITV says it is a broken metatarsus bone whatever that is

Well the world cup starts in seven or eight weeks time. If he's out for that long, he still won't be match fit for the world cup. Is it a better idea to replace him on the squad or bring him when he's not fit.
Then again he is the captain (something I still can't get my head around)

As far as the champions league goes, I don't think Utd can get by Leverkusen without two key midfielders, I thought they had a chance before now but i reckon thats fading away.
Then theres the premiership, which they've all but lost already. They're waiting for Liverpool and Arsenal to slip up - two teams with nothing more to play for. My prediction - Utd to finish third in English league, lose to Leverkusen by a small margin, and Beckham to miss the world cup.

As I said in a previous thread it would be and is a real shame that Beckham is not going to the WC. I don't like him as a person but he is a bloody good footballer and deserves to shine on the biggest stage for football. England are now going to be extremely boring to watch in the WC.

As regards Utd. I wouldn't count them out of anything yet. As an Arsenal supporter I have seen them blow up when the pressure is on (I'm not counting the trophies until I see Donkey Adams raise them over his head :)). Liverpool showed that against a team they should have beaten - Leverkusen they folded. I fully expect Utd. to beat Leverkusen, and by a large margin.

Gandalfs right there, ManUre should beat bayer easily and once they do, its a long time till the final. Keane (touch wood, fingers crossed, do a little jig) should be fit by then and as for Bungalow Becks, well the predictions for injuries always seem to be wrong these days. He could be out for 2 years, or it might drop to 2 weeks. Even if goldenballs is unfit, as long as Keane is there, Merchandise Utd have a good chance of winning the champs league. If keane is not there - then tough titties lads:)

Yeh, also agree about Arsenal - theyve won nothing yet and theres still a few games to go. Lets just hope theres no penalties involved in the run up :)

Have to agree with the last two posts. Beckham annoys me for some reason (GF has become used to me taking the p**s out of him, even if it's just that Harry Enfield yay! )

Can appreciate a great footballer on the field though. With estimates on recovery at about 8 weeks, it'll be a tough decision on whether to leave him in the squad or not

(I really hate hard tackling like that - gets on my goat. Anyone can make a mistake but all so often it's just a sign of either poor ability or poor sportsmanship - you know the "get the ball or the man" mentality)

That was'nt a hard tackle that was an assault!
Deportivo were after him as they knew he was already carrying
a knock from that foul foul last week.

I predict that Erickson will include him in the squad list even if he's still not 100% when the deadline passes.

Sadly his absence will not stop Man Utd beating Bayer and playing Barca in the final, with Utd winning by a goal or three.
I'm making this prediction because my predictions are always wrong!:p

    Mike.

the player who "assaulted" him is being praised for what he did back home in Argentina :p Sky Sports News today made mention that Ryan Giggs came back from a similar injury in 30 odd days so who knows

This was mentioned on Gerry Ryan this morning ...
And unfortunately I witnessed it on GMTV.
But they had Yuri Geller on and he asked all viewers to put their hand on an onscreen picture of David Beckham and Think real strong* Heal *
Fiona Phillips and Eamon Holmes were then seen to bow there heads in prayer........
    Maybe it will work:rolleyes:
    mm
A picture of his foot by the way.

Lets not forget, if david Beckham hadnt done his diving in the first leg he might not be in this mess. yeah not a bad footballer but before he was banging posh he wasnt given half the attention, considering he played for the scum and all. Ps Gandalf werent you the one who accused me of not being a true gunner when i didnt sing Overmars praises a few weeks ago and now to hear you slate a loyal player to the club such as Tony Adams as a donkey....people in glass houses mate shouldnt throw stones...ps how many Caprice's have you pulled in your lifetime?????

A friend of mine was saying it was deliberate. England play Argentina in the WC and an Agrgentinian injures the England captain and all that. But if they were going to go that way it'd be easier to hire someone to kill him.

With Scholes back from suspension we should manage Leverkusen - but I doubt it it'll be by loads. And sure haven't we already won a CL final without Keane? ;)

Ehhh Tipp Gunner Slate Tony Adams ???? All I did was call him by his nickname in jest. If this is an attempt to come back at me its weak :)

When you grow up a little more try again child :)

Oh unfortunately I have never pulled Caprice, how about you ?

    Gandalf.

there is nothing wrong with thick boys ankle, matatarsus bone is a small bone in the instep of the foot, the chances of him playing in the semi of the euros are slim to non, he could still play in the final and will no dout play his part in the world cup, so stop your bitching its not the end of the world

we dont need beckham to beat leverkusen
scholes will be back so slap him on the right
    veron and butt in midfield
    giggs on the left
    van nistelroy,solsjaker upfront
we'll destroy them like we did deportivo
without beckham with early injury's in both games
