Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apparently, Orbital are supposed to be doing a live set at Witnness this year. Was anyone at their DJ set in the Tivoli? What were they like? Was it two individual sets or a duel to the death with an outofhisface Johnny Moy looking on taking notes?

And, seeing as I'm in an inquisitive mood... what's the Tivoli like since it's, ahem, "multi-million euro" revamp? I heard it's still a right kip.

Missed the DJ set, but saw their concert in the Point in December. I can't really see them having the same impact at Witnness, but the Point gig was unmissable IMO.

The Tivoli gig was disappointing to be honest, and this is my favourite dance act we're talking about. I think it had a lot to do with problems with the venue though - the sound, lights and air conditioning were all messed up. It looks too much like a country nightclub (no offence to anyone). Johnny Moy did a great warm up but then the so called 5.1 system died during Orbital's first track (Halcyon) and it all went wobbly from there. They mixed some great tunes (including a good few of their own - and Paul Hartnoll is definitely the better DJ) but my overall verdict was I'd rather hear them play live - or a least try the DJ stuff in a different venue.

At last, a reason to go to Witnness :)

Orbital are my fav live dance act by miles.

Anyone else at the first MTV Ibiza (think it was in 99), where Orbital, and Faithless before them, just kicked ass? Unreal.

Brandon Block was cool at that too, where he started getting real popular methinks.

    Recommendation:

For those who have DVD player, get the Orbital DVD - The Altogether 5.1 - a superb version of Doctor? and loads of bonus tracks (and those commercials).

The Flash video for Oi! was great. Me being a bit slow though, it took me a while to find the 'hidden' bonus track.

    DVD most certainly 0wns j00

I was fairly pissed off when I didn't see Doctor? on the list of tracks, but that made finding it even better.

Quite a LOL @ the Chime 'Lip techno' in the ad from Pay Per View

They're playing at T In The Park in Scotland which is on the same weekend as Witnness. Everyone's favourite promoters MCD bought a huge share in that Festival last year and announced earlier this year that they were transferring it over the Irish Sea lock stock and barrel as Witnness. They're booking the acts for both. There's some cracking groups on the T In The Park Bill. Have a look at www.tinthepark.com

Good sound but nasty queue and you'll bleed sweat if there's a big gig on :(

I'd also recommend Plaid's Double Figure if you like Orbital, there's a lot of similarities I think (on Warp record label).
