Except for some poor refereeing and administration mistakes Waterford United would have won the League

St Pats had a copy of the rulebook.

They didnt follow it. The penalty laid out in the rulebook for fielding an unregistered player is 3 pts per game.

This was agreed before the league started. Why should it change now?

If it can be proven the player was registered, then I think they should get the points back. If he was not then they should suffer the punishment that was in the rulebook.

I fint it hard to belive this cannot be cleared up. I find it hard to belive the absolute shambles that has occured.

To put it differently, if you were playing in a CS competition, and one player did better than another, but it turns out that he had an illegal script, or some advantage, is the guy who broke the rules still supposed to be the winner?

Perhaps he is the better player, but because he had an unfair advantage he cannot be the winner.

St Pats had the advantage of not having to register the player, and wait for the usual period while he paperwork cleared before fielding there player. If the had fielded an eligible player who was not as good, the results of the games might have been different.

I'm tired of this whole thing to be honest. I hope Pats accept this decision and don't haul it through the courts again.

Pats come 5th now with the deductions, no Europe, thats far much more than they deserve.
Pats get my vote and I'm a Shelbourne fan who hasn't missed a game this season.

Give em the points, slap them with a mongo fine

Can someone explain to me what the problem here is?

St Pats cheated. The rules were enforced and they lost points. As a result of this Shelbourne won.

Whats wrong with that? tough ****, dont cheat , dont get caught.

Pats won the league on the pitch.
Shels won it in the deductions.
I accept the club fukked up and didnt register Marney bit we got away with that .
I dont think they fukked up with Mbazai as FIFA have a letter saying he was ,BUT to the letter of FAI he wasnt so he wasnt ,we get deducted 15 points.(now this is all Ollie Byrne`s doing the FAI ahd no further investigation into St Pats).
So pats get annoyed and ask the league to investigate every league player and so forth (general bitchiness at fukkin up ).
And one thing of interest comes from it.
Owen Heary off Shelbourne( this is so sad but pats want that money too and they did win it on the pitch).
Now to the letter of FAI law as they have been quoted as saying they will uphold (no amnesty screw em all basically)
Your registered name is your birthname but Owen Heary is thomas heary (possibly other way round).
So shels should be minus like 99 points and in 1st Division next year with a handicap of minus 20 points.

    basically its a fukkin joke.
teams should have hatred on the pitch not off it.
I am a lifelong St Pats fan am looking forward to Hadjuk Split or whoever it may be in the Intertoto Cup.

Well I don't follow Irish football (hangs head), however I think a championship should be decided on the pitch and not because of a admin error.

If the players were taking steriods etc then they should be punished in that manner but not because of an admin error.

    Gandalf.

Not sure what table you're looking at but Pats finish 3rd and are in the Inter-toto cup.

    hmmmmm
well its only fair that Pats lose the points in the league.. but missing out on Europe is something else entirely. I always like to see the best teams in the country playing the european teams, and as much as I hate to say it, St.Pats would be the most capable at that level this season. Instead we're represented by a substandard club.. but theres nothing you can do about it. :(
