    does any one know of software that measures how much you download. this would be quite important for adsl caps, wouldnt it?

    I would assume that whoever you get your ADSL from will have an online utility to show how much you've used. On my satellite connection (one way, xanticbroadband.com), it shows me how much I've left this month, and can show me how much I downloaded each day, what time I signed on at, e.t.c.
