Well hong kong is a very small place so you wouldnt miss much generally but i suggest u go to kowloon if u want some very cheap pc hardware or software and if u have time visit japan which is not too long boat journey away. and another thing watch wat u are eating u might not be used to the food , how its cooked etc... but generally the food is nice and cheap .

have a look at some of the links they have a good bit of info.
    Discover Hong Kong

    BUDGET TRAVEL - HONG KONG
(great info on where to stay and what there is to see)

    Online hotel and hostel booking
(Honk Kong is not the cheepst place to stay)

    Some basic Mandarin Chinese
(most people use Cantonese in HK/south china)

If you go in to China then have a look at this page

Well that sould keep you going for a few hours :)

    Micro,

It all depends on what you are interested in . Shopping is great in Hong Kong - but everybody knows that - you can get food at all prices from cheap to expensive all depends on what you want to eat - but the food is great.

If you are interested in other things, Hong Kong has more different types of birds than in the whole of the British Isles.

Some Hong Kongese students found some rare fish in one of the streams bewteen Kowloon and the Chinese boarder.

There is a wild bird park (or what ever they are called) where you can watch the wild birds in their natural habitat

There is a fantastic tunnel being build by the Japanese and the French under one of the remaining "mountains" in the Kowloon side for a future metro line (If you can it is worth a visit (of course you will probably need to know someone or ask the French chambre of commerce) - but women can not go in because of the Japanese superstition)

There are still a few walled towns in Hong Kong which are really work a visit - in the olden days the walled towns had only people from the same family (even now as far as i know) these towns were small and no and i mean no foreigners (that also means other chinese) were allowed in unless invited - even the police did not go in for fear of their lives - cars can not go in as there are only pathways -

I could go on all day but do not know what your interests are

Have a good trip to Hong Kong and do not think that there are only shops - it is a great city

Hi Ya Micro, hope you got back ok - you got to HK just after my friends got back to HK. I left two groups of friends at the Paris CDG airport (or aeroport) on Sunday, one group passing by Singapore and the other direct to HK.
Do let us know how you got on there. I hope you got out of the city and into some of the real old HK. DO LET US KNOW
