I'm thinking about going to see Blade 2. I really liked the first one but is the second installment able to live up to the first.
    Any comments would be great....
    Thanks

Errr I though there already was a thread on Blade 2. Do a search for blade and you'll find it. I'm off to see it tonight so I'll let you know what I think tomorrow. All the reviews I have seen say its a good braindead action film which is just what the doctor ordered after a crap week at work :)

I just watched it there 5 mins ago and if you loved the first one you will love this one, the fight scenes are absolutly amazing, Blade starts doing wrestling moves in this one, both grappling and WWF style suplexes and stuff, but it actually works in the scenes the end is a bit messy with the storyline kinda going all over the place but all in all its a great action movie.

    It's fab!

Action scenes are very well done, every bit as slick as the first one, and Ron Perlman (bad guy vampire...) is brill. Watch out for some cool tricks the bad guys have. Gross, but totally entertaining.

If your a complete 'tard who thinks that Ali G in Da House should be put up for an Oscar then you will like Blade 2.

Anyone who sais this film is as good as the first one needs their skull ventilated. If you go and see this film and you think it's as good as the first one, or, heaven forbid, better then please call over to my house where I will drown you for free in my very own bathtub.

You know, I'm just back from seeing this, and I thought it was excelent!

Although, the first film was probably better, this was still VERY enjoyable.
Total Special Effects fest that it was, and all.

The first film had a FAR better bad guy.
Deacon Frost was a way more dispicable ****.

Although, I thought Ron Pearlman was BRILLIANT.
The whole thing between his character and Blade was very good.
But then again, I pretty much liked him in everything else he was in.
    Very good actor.

I was quited shocked at Cat from Red Dwarf too!
I only realised it was him half way through.
    Very convincing.

One thing I didn't like about both Blade films, was that I thought the Vampires themselves died WAY too easily. So it was pretty decent to see these "Reapers" taking such a ****ing beating!

One of the best recent vampire films was John Carpenter's Vampires.
The way they had to shoot the vampires to bits, then stake 'em and then whinch 'em outside into the sun to be killed... That was brilliant.
Far better than the whole *Bang* they're dead, Buffy aproach.

So seeing one of the "Reapers" getting shot up to hell, then staked to a wall, before getting burned to ash was far more satisfying than seeing the vamps just shot and exploding into dust.

And the whole look to the reapers was very Nosferatu!
    I like!

All in all, it's a film I would definetly see again.

Saw it last night. Yes its good in a braindead sort of way. It is not as good as the original, which had a far better bad guy and some of the CGI was very very noticeable, especially the first fight scene between Blade and the bloodpack.

I will probably enjoy this more when it comes out on DVD.

Lex what is your problem, not every film can be Apocolypse Now :P

Blade II is great. The story isnt as good as the first but its the fights scenes that count. By the end of the film you just want to beat on someone. Its even better the second time around if you have a naggan of Jack Daniels.

Totally. That guy is so creepy, so cool.

Oh that's who that was! I spent the whole film trying to figure out who the f that guy was. Seemed so so familiar.
The reapers were definitely cool. Liked the new "twist" to their biting :P

Btw Lex_Diamonds, what's your problem? Just cos not everyone agrees with everything you say (shock horror) doesn't mean you have to be such a **** about it. It isn't better than the first (that'd be pretty hard), but it's still a good fun film.

I liked this film lex. I wouldnt rate it above blade 1 but it was a good film with some action seqeunces
Blade starts doing wrestling moves in this one, both grappling and WWF style suplexes and stuff
Didnt anyone else notice i think it was "bad guy"(name escapes me) who gave blade the people elbow?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,638 ✭✭✭bombidol

yeah saw that, more of a diving elbow than the peoples elbow though, but an elbow still!

I thought it was a class movie, almost as good as the first one. Steven Dorrf did a better job as the bad guy in Blade 1 but the reapers were cool in the 2nd movie, though they were disgusting when they opened their mouths.
Wesley Snipes was brilliant, the fighting scenes were fantastic and the costumes were deadly.
    Especially liked the vampire night-club!!

Leave your brain at the door, and don't try and follow the story line and it's good. Try and follow the story line you may leave very angry as it's pants.

Sorry I must have missed Blade 1 cause the version i remember had poor cgi and wasnt tat good?

Prob why i dreaded seeing this but was shocked by how much more fitting it was. I perferred it to the 1st film.

(now i know your all going to kill me) But this is why:

    Blade 1

-Felt that 1st 5 minutes are the only parts worth watching
-I thought deacon frost was quite a sad villian...Sure he had the plan but he passed of as a pussy
-The CGI was too bright esp the blood
-The transformation and its cgi for the blood god was terrible.
-The talking bits ruined the atmosphere for they were too bright.
-The serum which makes them blow up real big and explode...TERRIBLE put me off the ending by sh*tloads...

But doesnt mean i h8ed the film just wasnt a film i''d watch more then once (shame my friends put it on all the time)

    Blade 2
    -Darker
    -better effects at points
-The bad guy was not a pussy
    -The Blood pack was cool
    -The fight scenes were cooler
-it didnt go Real bright to real dark like 1st one stayed dark
-The bad guys (reapers) were not as much of pussies as the vamps in 1.
    -The weapons were cooler..
-The bloodpack guy with the detonator was cool..

Basically despite being the same film with plot etc etc. The 2nd one wwas just much much more stylish..it looked more....cool....
