My parents buy TheMirror which is full of utter ****e. Their prediction for next Wednesday's midfield was P. Neville on the right, Butt and Giggs in the middle and Fortune on the left.

I'd bet on either : Fortune on the left, Butt and Beckham in the middle and Giggs on the right. Giggs showed up on the right often on Tuesday and the prospect of himself and Beckham overlapping is tempting.

or : Giggs on the left, Butt and Beckham in the middle and P. Neville on the right.

I would go for the Giggs, Butt, Beckham and Neville option.

The most important thing is to not concede early and Phil Neville would be a more defensive option than Fortune. With RVN and Ole up front we will definitely score at least one to see us through.

as an abu supporter i think any team stupid enough to play the two Neville's on the same team are doing the opposition a favour. if they do that then they'll loose the second leg of the match.

Phil Neville is frankly not a very good player. He cost England a place in the knockout stages of Euro 2000.

Phil Neville will probably never be regarded as a "great" player and is one of those players supporters love to hate (like his brother) but you don't get called to play for England unless your useful at least? Me thinks it's because he's a ugly fcuker :)

Yeah, well all things are relative - he'd probably walk into all but the top 3 or 4 premiership teams.

As ugly as he is he will probably go to the world cup before the likes of Mills or Carragher.

And for all the slagging no-one has suggested an alternative. Its either him or Fortune. I would go for Neville.

I can't believe that all you TRS fans whilst mentioning ugliness, midfield options and the like have failed to mentioned the boy wonder Luke 'Margherita' Chadwick.......

Thats because he is not an option.

Will probably be shipped out with Yorkie and a few more young guys in the summer.

they won't sell chadwick as he has good potential and united realise this.

Greening, Cooke, Thornley and Gillespie all had potential also but they too left or were shown the door. All wide players like Chadwick but will never get on the first team unless there are a few rested.

they shouldn't have got rid of gillespie and maybe they will learn from there mistakes.

In hindsight it was a good decision as he had one good season with Newcastle then went off the rails. This season he has played well again but it is inconsistent. Great goal against us at the start of the season.

    Bucks73,
Why isn't Chadwick an option. Surely he is more capable that Neville in midfield.

it says a lot for the champions that they have to decide between the two uglies. its the reason that they have no chance at winning anything this year.

    thegills,

As I said before it is imperative that United dont concede an early goal. As much as people hate him Neville will get stuck, win challenges and get up and down the wing. I couldnt see Chadwick winning a 50/50 ball with Mauro Silva.

Depor are going to come out flying to try to score early and I would prefer to see Neville on the right to stop the threat on Fran.

United will score during the game so they should be patient, see out the early effort from Depor and then let their own game flow.

I would only play Chadwick if we were 2-0 down and you needed another attacking option but the onus is not on United to attack. They are not able to soak up pressure like the scousers but there is no need to go all out for another goal and leave yourself open to the break either.

I hear that there is a good chance of Verón being back for Wednesday. That should be alright then. It would be fairly straight forward:

Giggs on the left with Verón and Butt in the middle and Beckham on the right.

    What do you think?

Is Beckham a certainty to play? Has he recovered from his injury?

I think Fergie will start Neville after playing him on Saturday. Probably on the right where he finished up.

As for Veron hopefull he is not quite ready. Lazy muppet.
