    People:

I want people who use ISDN and UNIX of any kind to post their setup here.
    I.e.
Harware -> what isdn device do you use.

OS -> what OS do you unix and what software do you use with your isdn device.

Any relevant links to sites with info would be good too.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Paul

We used to use an old hp desktop and a Zyxel Omni.net TA until the TA broke recently.

The hp machine was running OpenBSD, ipf and natd.

Once we get a new TA (and get rid of lucutus' wierd german isdn-brick), we'll probably use FreeBSD, ipfw and ppp with nat.

Only for about an hour, but I setup a mini cisco LAN in work there a little while ago. Very little need to be done with the Unix box though ( which was running rh7.2 with it's standard kernel ).

All the main configuration, namely natting, authing and dial was taken care of by the cisco router. Only other hardware was obviously a switch :)

Don't know if this helps at all, but I hope to have a setup similar to this in a little while, if I can get the job to give me a cisco ;), and would be looking to setup the LAN in a similar fashion.

Little over the top I know ;)

    Stinkah:

I personally have a CISCO803 isdn router, but its not for me its for a client. He isnt going to fork out for a piece of cisco hardware when he can get a TA for €80 ~.

its not much help, but thank you anyway.

    Regards,

    Paul

I setup up a slackware box on a 486 running on 16mb of ram that had a 64k external drone X adapter from Maplin.

I used wvdial as the dialer which was nice and simple once I worked out that the init strings wvdial.conf had as default were incorrect for the idsn device...

Bad init strings make baby Jesus cry

I've an active pci isdn card here, an eicon diva pro 2.0. Neither freebsd or linux seem to support active cards, they support passive which is what most people have. So I haven't been able to setup an isdn box yet. I've looked extensively, and even the newest isdn4bsd and the linux isdn drivers (can't remember the name) have no support for my card. Baah.
