Can anyone tell me what the criteria is for qualifying for an upgrade with Eircell? I am on esat and am wondering is it as dumb ass as their criteria (.ie be with them either 24 months or spend 600 quid a year on calls)

with eircell, when u r with them as year, u can sign a new year contract, and get a fone 4 the upgrade price. u can do it every year then.

afaik (and i did it a few months ago) you need to spend a certain amount to be eligable for an upgrade.
but if you are going to join eircell, from esat you will get a good discount on a phone anyway, and you will keep your same number. (well nearly, you will be 087 yournumber )

Dunno about the 24 months or 600 quid a year thing, - I've upgraded twice with Digifone, each upgrade being a year apart and knocking £100 off the price of the phone. That was a 'silver' upgrade though, - I don't know how long you have to wait or what the conditions are for a 'gold' one which probably gives you a larger chunk off the price.

Might be worth checking out www.digifone.com , www.eircell.ie or sending them an email. Eircell, as far as I'm aware, are usually quite quick to respond to email enquiries.

I have been with eircell a year, and they wont give me an upgrade. Even though a lot of my bills have been over £40. Spanners

Gerry you sure about that. My bills are always £25 per month on Eirtime 50 and they will upgrade my phone once the year is up.

if you ring eircell they will tell you if you are eligable, give some BS reason, like phone is odd etc

I got a free 3310 from a mate who excercised his upgrade with Eircell and then decided not to use the phone. I cant stick my Esat sim in as the phone is locked. I know I can unlock it but it is not worth the cost. I did ring esat and they told me 24 months or 600 quid a year which sucks. Also their digifone site sucks as it does not process the 'eligible for an upgrade' for properly. Also Eircell's site does not list the u/g criteria as far as I can see.

I am on my way to eircell I reckon

yeah, well I was on the upfront deal, which after a year, turns out at eirtime 10. The problem is my phone is old and wrecked.
