Travellers and their Filth.

Just a question.Where do I report Travellers to who are leaving their filth around Public areas.
Yesterday I went for a walk with my 4 year old daughter along the banks of the canal near Maynooth in Kildare.We have been doing this most Sundays since she could walk and as yesterday evening got better weather wise we decided to go for our usual walk.Any way when we got there I noticed that it was unusually quiet(theres usually people fishing under the bridge there).Then I noticed that people were walking back out on to the road rather than walk under the bridge.I couldnt see anyone under the bridge -- thought it may have been a few lads drinking beers or what have ya.When I got closer the smell was horrendous.HUMAN SH**E.All over the place.I called the little one back but before I knew it she had slipped in some and was covered in it.
This is disgusting and shouldnt be allowed.I wanted to confront these travellers over it.Now before anyone says the usual "how did you know it was these"I saw it happening.I went over to a bench to try and clean my daughter up and next of all I see another one adding to the mess under the bridge.
So I want to know who I can report this to and what kind of Disease does human excrement carry??
Anyone?

You can report them to the Gardai, and on the 'fouling the area' situation, the Corporation.

As for the infectious diseases contained in human waste a quick Google search revealed that it can contain such niceties as Salmonellosis, Shigellosis, Cholera, Viral Hepatitis A, Sporadic Viral Gastroenteritis, & Amebiasis.

If you or I (or any other member of the "settled" community) were to behave in a manner which some travellers behave in on a regurlar basis, we would not be long about feeling the effects of the law.
Yet, when travellers are confronted about such issues it is branded as racism and intolerance.

Sadly this is too true where i live they can pretty much do what they like.i cant even count the amount of times i`ve walked to school and had to avoid a horrendous amount of Sh!t,i`m not being rascist or biggoted but it sure seems there is a law for settled people and a law (lacking as it is) for travellers

How true, unfortunate also.
I hear this on the airwaves time and again, if someone passes (often valid) comment on the traveller community it is branded a "racist attack".
Political Correctness will be the damnation of us all.

Is it just my imagination or have some posts disappeared from this thread ?

Also its actually not against the law to shíte all over the place, even though its pretty disgusting. I think you should stay quite, or you'll probably get done for a racist attack.

Lump read the last second line of the first post!!!!Lump did you even read the thread.I have already stated that it is not an attack against Travellers.Actually that was in my second post.Someone deleted it.
Actually now that I realise it my missing posts are leading people to think that it is actually a racist attack.
If any mods are reading please restore the threads that are missing.
Or was it Victor who deleted them.Cmon freedom of speech and all that.

Yeah well I would appreciate it if you reinstate the one where by I explained that the thread had nothing to do with racism against travellers and that I would be the same if it was a member of the settled community.And I do think that what Victor said was relevant.He implied that I was a bad parent and should have had more control of my daughter.It doesnt matter how much control I had of my daughter no-one shoul sh!t in a public walkway.Not to the extent that it was.At least half of the pathway was covered to the extent that you couldnt even navigate through it.
Im sorry Castor but I dont agree with you deleting these posts and think that they should be re-instated.

Your initial post asked two questions. They were answered. I suspect you continued ranting in order to vent your anger and frustration. This is not contructive.

Instead of expressing you're anger about travellers and "their filth", can you try and think of a solution? Should they be moved on? Is the local council responsible? Is the goverment lacking in providing halting sites or accomidation? Are travellers just bad people that should be arrested and jailed?

Calling travellers names or screaming blue murder about it is not going to do any good as last I looked no TD's were present here.

Much much more could be acheived if you calmed down and wrote a sensible letter describing the situation with someone who can actually do something about it.

Amp I think you are dead right.Maybe I was going on a bit.But when you see your 4 year old covered from head to toe in human sh!it of course Im going to be a little bit pissed.
As for what should be done with them I think that there should be a law making it illegal to stop in one place for too long.Im not talking about this law which makes it illegal for them to stop anywhere but a version of this law which due to their Nomadic nature/culture would ensure that they can still have this nomadic culture by allowing them to stop in one place for say 2 days.This would also improve the cleanliness of the area where they are staying as from experience I have seen that if they are in a place for too long than this area becomes a dumping ground.As in my first post these travellers have had to have been there for weeks or months for that level of filth to have built up.Another thing that could be done is dedicated sewerage systems for the travelling community ie if they stop somewhere there should be access to a maybe not a toilet but a manhole so that they have somewhere to dump(wrong word) their dirt.
As for the council I rang them today and was told that these travellers left a full furnished 4-bed house to go travelling again.
So i dont blame the council on this-although they shoul clean up the mess.
Castor I now realise that the post were irrevelant to the topic and that there should be no"moronic abuse"on these boards.But I still dont agree with you deleting the posts.It was just that Victor annoyed me with his bad parenting comments and that got me going.I think that you should have locked the thread for 24 hours which seems to be effective in calming things down.Even a warning would have probably stopped the abuse.
