Since i suggested it I might aswell get the ball rolling. Here are some links.

http://www.irishearthworm.com/ For all your composting needs
    http://www.wastenot.ie
    http://www.indaver.ie/ Waste Management

Check out your local authority websites for the waste management program in your aera, list of recycle spots etc. Link can be found here http://www.irlgov.ie/organisations/list.asp?type=7&D=Local+Authority

    More to follow.

    Here are some more.

Electronic Recycling provide a total environmental management service for the disposal of obsolete computer, telecommunications and other electronic office equipment

    http://www.wastechange.com/
Wastechange enables European trade and industry to locate cost effective recycling, waste management and waste exchange solutions for all categories of commercial waste and by-products previously destined for landfill

http://www.connaughtwasterecycling.com/ For paper/plastic recycling in connaught.

It is important to note that to recycle properly you will have to get in contact with you local authority to find out more about recycling initatives in your aera. All these sites are only a starting point, to help you find out more about recycling, what can be recycled, the benfits of recycling and the (future) legal and financial implications of recycling/not recycling.

Should be a sticky on the computer forum for recycling/disposal/other places that take old computers.

Most Schools/Charities don't want old computers
    - fully working Pentium III's would be the minimum they'd take.

Places like Dell and HP will recycle old computers when you buy new ones.

If anyone knows of a place that will take circuit boards then it might be worth looking at dissassembling the PC first to separate the plastics and metal which could be handed in elsewhere. If not then a moot point.

    Components Suggestions:
CMOS Batteries , can be recycled, most pharmacies / jewelers.
Heatsinks are usually aluminium and may be of use to overclockers eg: putting a CPU heatsink on a graphics card.
There are EU directives against commercial reusing electronic components.
I'd avoid reusing capacitors or Semiconductors (transistors/diodes/chips) as they are likely to be stressed already if the extraction doesnt stress them more - many high power semiconductors contain Beryllium even though it's been banned for ages - extremely toxic - never break open semiconductors ! Resistors are too cheap to reuse, unless they are the higher wattage ones and you don't see those too often. Inductors may be of use for RFI supression.
Most Fans are 12V but will run at lower voltages - you could connect two of the same type of fan in series. This will have very little air flow but would be very much quieter

Old AT power supplies usually won't power on unless there is some current drawn from 5V - in some cases a 12V fan will be enough. Be extremely careful reusing these as the on/off switches have mains voltage and some have exposed terminals - best to leave them in the computer case. A lot of 12 volt and 5 volt equipment can then be run off them - BUT anything designed to run off a cigarette lighter may be looking for 13.8 Volts and you certainly won't be able to use it as a battery charger for car batteries as they need 14.4 Volts.
