Right lads, I know this has come up before but I need this explained to me like I'm a 6 year old.

Has anyone sucessfully set one of these up with Mandrake?

Harddrak detects it and tries to set it up, but when it dials out the connect just freezes.

    Connection freezes?

    As root try this.

    chmod u+s /sbin/pppd
if you are using kppp same command, and || else
    try chmod 777 /dev/eicondivadevice
or if you are using devfs in mandrake like I am in Gentoo you could try /dev/whateversubdir/whateverdevice conducive with what a dmesg tells you is the pertinant device for the icon diva is.

It could be that you have an irq conflict with this device as a common problem with ISA cards that I have is that if they have irq conflicts (especially the etherlink III) it will send packets out but will not recieve them......
I presume you are dual booting with windows, therefore verify the irq in windows, also I just thought of something.

Get the modem init string from windows, yes more than likely whatever dial out program you are using is not sending the correct initalization string.

Here make sure your dialing program is using this init string.
    AT&FW2X4&C1&D3&K4%P5=1S0=1

    or something similar.

    Now, now.

It is quite likely he has an irq conflict or his dialing program is 'assuming' he is using a 56k modem of some description or it could simply be that his isdn adapeter is finikity about what sort of init strings it takes, ergo make sure it is using the above

Problem sorted in a roundabout kindof way.

I broke out my crap old external TA and have a ropey PPP setup going. Works though.
