ROFLAMO!!!!! :D:D:D:D Local TV for Meath folk YEAH!!!!

RTE should move to Meath, says Bruton

"RTÉ will be based in Co Meath if former taoiseach Mr John Bruton’s novel solution to the broadcaster’s financial crisis is followed.

The Dunboyne-based TD has today suggested the site offered by the State for the new European Plant and Veterinary Office in Dunsany, Co Meath, which was tehen set up in nearby Kiltale, should be offered to RTÉ for free.

"The State should examine the possibility of finding a State-owned site there, or elsewhere outside Dublin but convenient to Dublin Airport for RTÉ," Mr Bruton said.

He referred to the independent strategic review of RTÉ that suggested the its 32-acre Montrose site could raise as much as €88 million on the market.

Mr Bruton said the move should be part of a State policy of decentralisation. "In general I believe the Government should pursue a vigorous policy of moving State institutions out of the centre of Dublin and towards locations in Meath that are convenient to Dublin Airport but not in areas of high congestion and rental costs," he said. Mr Bruton will submit his proposal the Forum on Public Broadcasting set up last week. "

sounds to me like another FG clutching-at-straws, last-gasp attempt to buy some votes in the general election. Noonan and Bruton must have won big on some foreign lottery to have all this money at their disposal as they can afford to compensate eircom shareholders, compensate taxi drivers, give RTE a free site in meath and offer first time buyers free money and extended mortgage interest relief.

Ayway, I think RTE should stay where they are. Maybe sell a stip of their land. Re-location would simply cost too much.
