Just wanted to mention that in the fifa world rankings England are rated as the 12th best team in the world, and we are just 18th!

Are England better as a team than ireland? I think they had had 1 good result (beating Germany away), and were lucky to come out of an average group!

Now when Holland played England they decimated them, then we beat Holland in Landsdown road a week or so later.
There again last night, England lost to Italy (world cup bound) while we hammered Denmark (also Japan bound).

England have a woeful record in qualifying for tournaments in the last dozen years, and ours is so much better.

    Whats the story?

Firstly I don't think the ratings have been updated to take account of last nights games.

Secondally if my dodgy memory serves me correctly I think that ranking is also based on performances in the last 2 finals which Ireland didn't take part in.

    Gandalf.

Of all the things I'd love to see, including Kylie in my bed, I would gladly have my earlobes stitched to my testicles if I could see the current Ireland team take on the current England team - man, that would be sweet. I have absolutely no doubt that if this fixture were to take place next week, Ireland would win. England have a serious confidence problem, the legacy of years of media abuse and ridiculous over-expectations and irrational jingoistic bullsh!t. Ireland on the other hand would have very little to fear and would be impassioned by the chance to have a crack at Blighty.

I remember what happened the last time Ireland played England. I wouldn't like to see that happen again.

Yes, I did enjoy that more than us being up 1-0. It was cool because while watching that the Ireland fans were singing "You'll neeeeeeever beat the Irish!". I get a tingle up and down my spine whenever I think of that. That was the first time I actually enjoyed the Gardai kicking the **** outta someone. :)

Next time we play England we should sing
To the tune of coming round the mountain
    "The Gardai kicked yer arse,
    kicked yer arse,
    kicked yer arse.
The Gardai ****in kicked yer arse,
    all night long".

That would turn their faces from... to :( and :o

Yes they are but it ain't no big deal.
I too think we are are far better side then them. We have a more settled side, are certainly more relaxed, better keeper, better full backs (okay it's close here Harte & Ashley Cole, but Harte will get us goals?) I wouln't change our midfield for theirs (we have balance with Duff on the left) and maybe Robbie and Clint will be the perfect pairing upfront?

    GK Given
    LFB Harte
    RFB Finnan
    CH Staunton
    CH Cunningham
    LMF Duff
    CMF Roy Keane
    CMF Holland
    RMF McAteer
    CF Robbie Keane
    CF Morrison

Back them now at 66/1 before it's gone :)
