Any update when Newstalk 106 hits the airwaves ? Those cute hoors in RTE have managed to grab the URL - Newstalk 106 . Wonder if the IRTC will intervene ?

Sly one..... That certainly shouldn't be allowed, especially since RTE happen to be the national broadcasters.

What are folks opinions on this station now that it is on the
air a few weeks now? By the way I am not a market researcher
or associated in anyway with the station.
My one 2cent is that it is very good in places but patchy in others.
The morning shows are pretty good and what I have heard of
the Kiberd afternoon/lunchtime spot is pretty good quality also.
The afternoon entertainment show though sounds like
community/pirate radio even if the presenters are young/fresh
    and nice people basically.

Has anyone strong opinions on the quality of the content.
Apart from myself I don't know others who listen in regularly
but maybe I am a bit of news junkie :)

The right hook @ 4:30 is very good. The competition at this time is very healthy. I usually switch between this, the last word on todayfm and 5-7live on rte. There is always an interesting news item on at least one of the 3 shows at any time.
I really like the damien kiberd show i the afternoon and the show thats on between the morning show and kiberds slot is also very good. I havent listened in to the morning show although I really like the presenters show on tv3 on sundays.
Overall, im very impressed with it and think that it was really needed for us 'news junkies' out there. Its great for breaking stories and I really like the fact that its on all day. The formats perfect and their analysis on the various daily topics is excellent. They also appear to get decent guests on to give their 'expert' analysis.
It should keep RTE on its toes and also todayfm's lastword.
Yeah.......newstalk106 gets my vote of approval.
Competition is verry healthy o he wireless keeping standards high.
