Actually I think Gentoo is probably going to be the one...... I might find room for GNU-Hurd... tho if someone has an iso of this I will swap for Mandrake 8.1 x 3cd set or something else from my collection.

Linux from scratch has the great book - but I would (and will eventually) use it as a learning experience and not as a distro to use.
