I have this problem, when I go to boot into Mandrake 8.1 I get this message "Loading linuxEBDA too big"

Last time I shut down linux properly, but I think it could be a problem with when I did the "software update", I updated mandrake's security issues within the software.. anyone know how I can resolve this please? :)

If you upgraded your kernel with the mandrake update it may have fscked it up.

To resolve it use your boot disk(you did make one didnt you) - and do as root

    rpm -e kernel --nodeps
    urpmi kernel

And now you should have your old kernel back

Why not just compile your own kernel?
Extended Bios Data Area, a location of memory that unfortunately if you are using an 'old' version of a bootloader may eat into 'conventional ram' and thus placate space for your bzImage on boot.
Therefore you can use the grub if you wish or the BSD bootloader or simply upgrade to a newer version of lilo with this bug fixed.
    Typedef.

do you have your origional mdk cd's try booting into rescue mode and do

    lilo

    to reinstall lilo
