    Hi all,

I've been experiencing serious stuttering with
my setup since I put it together. This involves playing
any sounds at all (Winamp, sndrec32). About 15 seconds
into any song, it stutters, then recovers and plays on
for about 30 seconds.... the stuttering seems almost
    random.

The system even hangs for about 10 secs every time I edit something in Soundforge.

I thought it might be the virtual memory/HD writes, but
that doesn't seem to be it. Any ideas?

Many thanks if anyone can help!
    /Rory

Is your onboard sound chip dissabled? make sure it is if your using the PCI sound card..

See if your mbd has chipset drivers and DMA drivers that need to be installed.. may not be needed for XP but then again they might..

I had the same problem with the Maxtor HDD a few weeks ago. Bring it back if you can.

Maybe just a simple conflict or something, just delete it then re boot, sound card will be picked up, it could fix the problem

Why do ya need the add on card for?i have the same SB and i have 4.1 speakers up to it,does job no bother.

    Not familer wit the card.

Does it happen when u are usin the SB?
