    Well What can I say....

The best 2hrs I've had in a long time.
Another excellent movie from Wes Anderson

Go See it if you can. Movies like this are rare:)
I couldn't fault any of the actors. They were all superb!

i thought it was a major disappointment. it dragged for the most part, and ben stiller's character was completely off the mark.
when gene hackman was on form in it he was great though.

    I enjoyed it too.
It was quite different from the sort of ****e I've seen lately (we were soldiers) and much better for it.

And when I say different, I mean in approach.

By the way, was that Alec (?) Baldwin doing the narrating ?

    Agree with you there Corpo,
Ben Stiller as "Chas" was much underused and under-developed unfortunatley.
There was plenty more opportunites for the violent/action comedy he is good at. The only time we saw him in action was at the very end !

Yup, right first time (and I'm impressed that you just recognised the voice) - haven't seen it yet, went to "A Beautiful Mind" over the weekend instead

Maybe it was the amount of coke and sugar I had rushing through my body when I really didn't enjoy the film. I would go so far as to say I found this film terrible. I would have said it was a disappointment, had it not been for the fact that I really had no expectations for the film at all. If anything, I expected exactly what I got.

The entire film reminded me of an off-form Woody Allen movie, helped along by the fact that almost all of the cast gave similarly smug performances as those found in Woody Allen movies.

Saw it, laughed at it, liked it

Nice slo-mo shot at the end, I thought (not a spoiler in case anyone's worried)

Kept getting mixed up between Richie and that Eli chap at the start (the headband helped) - Owen Wilson does look a lot like his brother with the beard and all.

Don't know if the Woody Allen comparison is that true. Lots of attention to small details in the movie though, good character development - would perhaps have been better if the movie had been a little longer.

Poor year for movies on the whole (I'm popping this one in the 2001 Oscar year) - one of the better movies I've seen in the last twelve months.

Saw it for the second time tonight,

BTW for any Wes Anderson buffs...
He is the commentator at the Tennis Match when Richie goes crazy and Jason Schartzman (aka Max Fischer in Rushmore) is the Umpire- [both not mentioned in credits BTW]

Also Pagoda (The families butler) has only made 3 movie appearances... All in Wes Anderson films !!- he played Mr. Littlejean, the school groundsman in Rushmore and I cant remember him in Bottlerocket.
I'm actually looking to buy a region 2 copy of that ATM but cant seem to find it :(

Don't think Bottle Rocket has been released on R2 (as always, I'm entirely correctable). Was released on R1 at the end of 98 (don't know if it contained the 12 or 13 minute original short movie or not- probably not if Wes Anderson had any say - supposedly he's quite embarrassed by it)

    Thats a pity-
I'll keep searching for the DVD, but heck if its only on VHS I'll still get it. What always stops me buying vidoes nowadays is that you'll just buy one and the next thing you know its on TV and you can tape it. I think most ppl dont mind paying a premium for the DVD:)

I really liked this film, my friends didn't, which is a plus cos I know my taste isn't becoming too bland.

Some very funny and also touching moments. The narration was excellent, generally too much voice over messes up a film but everytime Baldwin said something it made the film better.

Best of the 4 films I saw this week. Going to check out Wes Andersons other films now.
