If I were to bring a region 1 Player back for the states, what modifications would be required to use it here.

I know the voltage is different but Can the picture be watched ok?

Where can you get a multi-region DVD player?

You can get players here just as cheap as you can over there.. too much hassle i think to get from the US unless you go for an expensive sony or philips model thats cheaper over there than here but you can get budget players here for next to nothing and some are region free too!! dont be too hasty. The US players might only work on NTSC also and not PAL!!! be careful!

Any suggestions as what to buy? Which ones are region free?

I have a Marantz DV4200 which has a remote hack that allows it to be region free. Works perfectly with everything I throw at it including Region 1 RCE discs. Only real complaint is that the build appears a bit plasticy but the picture and sound is great. It doesn't have in buit DTS/Dolby decoders though so you better have an external one.

I have a pioneer DV646a multi region for six months now-no complaints+ built in dd.5 and dts decoders.
it's software modded-so no loss of warranty.
