I'm having a problem with a virus and was hopping someone here can help...
Basicaly Two virus kep reappeering after boot up on my windows 2000 machine. There "Horton.exe" and "wincmp32.exe"
I've scaned and killed/healed/deleted them a number of times with various anti-virus software only to reboot and have the two files back again.. There both reported as trojans and i've made sure they can't access the net with a Firewall but this isn't an ideal solution.
Any help /advice would be great, thanks

Take a look in your regisry and see what else is been run at startup.

    The keys in question
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Also check your system.ini I've not got a win2k box here so I cannt give u a list of typically what should be here.

Also check your system.ini as well.

The trojans you metion are typically used to install further apps.
