I notice that the latest fighting in Afghanistan is getting very little press coverage.

I also notice that since the beginning of the operation, 8 US soldiers have been killed.

Considering the massive coverage of the only US casualties during Operation Enduring Freedom (accidental death in all cases), I find it quite surprising that so little it being said either for the bravery of the soldiers, or in condemnation of the Taliban / Al Qaeda.

Today, CNN now report the count at 11 dead, and over 70 injured.

BTW - these are American fatalities. There is also an "unknown" number of Afghan "allies" dead.

Not surprising, its just like that sketch in the Irish independent a while back depicting a guy on a camel shouting holy war, then it shows him running back shouting holy ****, with a larger jet on his ass.

This war was started as a result of a barbaric assault, they (americans) reacted when they were still reeling from the effects... now that people have calmed down they suddenly realise they're at war with a nation / people who can offer very little resistance. Its not as much fun when your oponent is incapable of retaliating.

I'd disagree with this. A quick scan of cnn.com, nytimes.com, washingtonpost.com, usatoday.com, reuters.com and news.bbc.co.uk shows that Anaconda is the top story on all these news sites.

What??????????? We are not at war with Afganistan, but at war with al Qaeda and whatever Afghanis that still side with them.

As to the "fun" aspect -- don't be so foolish. This war isn't about fun, being fair or sporting. This is about wiping every last al Qaeda prick from the face of the planet and making every future would-be terrorist think before he decides to murder innocent civilians.

I don't want these people to retaliate -- I want them to either surrender or die. Surrender preferably, but a mass of dead terrorists doesn't particualrly bother me.

thats because youre blinded by the propaganda, heres a thought, get an opinion thats your own.

Calling for the deaths of these people makes you as bad as them, and besides, it is very likely that the war effort of the americans has taken at least one innocent life. As soon as that happens, you really should be questioning your politicians a bit more.

    Bonkey>
If i am interpreting your original post correctly,i am assuming you are refering to how, what was originally planned and reported as a minor mop up operation developed into a full scale battle,
perhaps the following link will help.Apparently large numbers of tailiban reinfiltrated from areas safe from air attacks inside pakistan.
    Hope it helps
