I have an NT server and I want to create a ghost image. I bought a second harddrive (20GB) and after much studying on the web I decided to format the HD NTFS - as NT cannot read FAT32. Now I can see the second HD on my server so I booted up ghost and tried to do an image but I couldn't see the second HD in Ghost. After more research I realised NT can only read NTFS and ghost can only see (create image to) FAT 32. Talk about a rock and a hard place. Can anyone help !!!

First off, NT can read FAT16 and NTFS.
Ghost can read NTFS, depending on the version. You probably have an old version, afaik Ghost 2001 upwards will read NTFS partitons.

There's some good info on that site.

Frank_Grimes - Thanks for the reply. Ghost can read from NTFS but it cannot write to an NTFS drive. My problem is that I need the HD to be NTFS so that I can read/write to it from my NT server - however Ghost cannot "write" an image to the NTFS HD. I'd say I'll have to format the HD to FAT16 which is compatible with NT and Ghost. Any suggestions ?????

You've pretty much answered your own question! Format the drive in FAT and Ghost will write the info. onto it. That site I gave the link for pretty much gives you all the info. you need.

Formatted the 2nd HD to Fat16 - Nt now read/writes to disc as well as ghost. Thanks for the help.
