United's Formation Problems

    Even though Fergie tried the 4-4-2 formation last night which most people prefer, I still think he is too stubborn to drop that 4-4-1-1 formation which doesn't suit the players we have.
    I think at home to Nantes he can play 2 strikers up front, but later in the competition he will probably use 4-4-1-1 against the so called better teams.
    I think that could be United's downfall.
    That formation was another reason they got off to such a bad start this season.
    Most of the groundwork they made up was due to Ole and Ruud working together.

    I agree with you that 4-4-2 is better but the reason why Fergie (in my opinion) played 4-4-1-1 against Nantes away from home was to get the players used to playing the formation against so-called "better teams". I think it would be a very useful formation away from home against the likes of Real Madrid who are probably the best passing team in the world.

    Thats my opinion anyway.

    Have to agree with you lads the formation he is using away from home is frightening, I cannot see his point in using it, if we play 4411 we will conceed goals, for sure and possibly not score, if we play 442, we will score and maybe conceed.

    I was over for the Villa match and the lads do not like it either, there is supposed to be a clause in Verons contract that he has to play all Euro matches and in order to fit him and the other 4 he has to got with the 4411.

    Fucd up, but he is the wizard
