Just finished listening to it for the 23rd time, never loses its appeal, this album is one of the best ever!

    It is indeed fantastic.

I didn't exactly like it that much at first, but it's something that just gets better each time I hear it.

Sheesh, I thought the score was really irritating in parts - much too sentimental and sacchariney. And I'm usually a big fan of Mr Shore, especially the Ed Wood soundtrack and the Cronenberg stuff.

The main melody of the triumphant bit that plays whenever something is going right for the Fellwoship is totally ripped off (maybe unintentionally) from "Stand" by Sly and the Family Stone. It was really bugging me trying to figure out what it sounded like during the movie, I only twigged it last night when they showed a clip during the BAFTAs.

Also, Enya's presence on the soundtrack gives it a few minus points - they should've got Lisa Gerrard, but then I suppose there would have been too many Gladiator comparisons.

If you want to hear a really good lotr song d/l The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins mp3. Its soo funny. Its like the story of the hobbit compressed into a song sung by lenord nemoy!
