im thinking of Reservoir with 500GPH 12v pump, what type of noise will this put OUT. would it be enough for say A Cpu and gaphics cooler, whit an opional duel cpu in the future.

im allso wondering about a Radiator, i dont want to have to deal with fans, but i want something thats not to big, will provide decent cooling and wont suck me psu dry.

    maybe something like this

well you'll need some sort of airflow going past the radiator to take the heat away, so if you had 2-3 quiet (or modded) fans running at the back it should do the trick.
THis is what full tower cases would be hady for.

What about putting th radiator (with connectors sealed tight) at the top of the case with blow holes?
That way the heat taken away from the cards and CPU wouldn't heat up the rest of the system (hdds in particular)

    they are extremely loud

    Hi Boston,

IMHO you can't have a small radiator without having a few fans attached. If you want a quiet radiator it must be big enough to loose it's heat through convection alone.

what size of one would i need without any fans

No idea, sorry. I suppose it depends on how much heat your bits generate, how big your water reservoir is, where you place the radiator etc.

At the end of the day though, pumping water around the inside of your computer is pretty mental, and for the same money you'd spend on hardware you could buy a whole sh1tl0ad of porn ;)

Heheheh, or just buy new hardware and have no need to overclock it :P
But that (or pr0n) wouldn't be half as much fun.....

boston, i also want to do some water cooling. not to overclock (well, maybe) but to have a quiet machine, that doesnt sound like a hoover.

i saw a case kit from korea on slashdot.org that has a water cooled psu, and a water cooled hs for the cpu. its expensive and , probably, difficult to get hold of.

i've heard that fujitsu hard drives are the best for these quiet machines, as they create the least noise.

as regards the cost of water cooling, you can re-use the equipment on successive generations of cpu,psu and gfx , buying cheaper components and getting top performance out of them.
    cheaper in the long run.
im so p1ssed off at the noise of fans, i dont care about the cost.

anyway, if you do start the mod, start a thread , i'd be interested to see what you do :)

FYI, Fujitsu withdrew from the desktop (read: IDE) hard disk market more than six months ago. And, for what it's worth, of the current crop of HDDs, I'm reliably informed that the Seagate Barracuda IVs are the quietest of the crop, but they have issues about running in RAID arrays (some firmware glitch).

What syxpak was referring to was using large fans on the radiator, but running them at a lower voltage to reduce the noise. For passive radiator cooling you would need something the size of a car radiator I'd say.

yes gerry i picked up on that.

Sorry, I thought you were saying that the fans were extremely loud, and was suggesting a way of reducing that noise. What were you referring to in the above post?

yes my fan, i have it running at 6 volts but its still koud,
