I was going to do this with a poll but hell there have been 19 offcial Bond movies which is too many for the software.

So which is your fav 007 flick and why, mine is proberly
From Russia With Love with Live and Let Die a close runner up.

From Russia... gets the nod because its before the gadgets and the production values went through the roof,
meaning there was more room for character and plot driven action (great train fight, the speedboat finale). The acting was even good, particuarly Robert Shaw.

Also as a side poll name your fav 007 star. Mine is er, actaully I liked all of them but Timonthy Dalton may have been the best with his nicely broody vibe.

    Mike.

Geroge Lazenby - is that the Italian chap? man he sucked ass, didn't even know it was a bond film first (only) time i watched it!

    pierce and his sexy mofo.

    best film is dr. no.

Connery was the best bond imo. Since then there has been a serious lack of credibility in the Bond men. Roger Moore was ok in Saint as a hero etc. but in bond he is just too old and crap. Timothy Dalton was ok and so is Pierce. In my opinion after the next bond movie they should get a younger lad to play bond. it would be refreshing to see a secret agent who is not suffering a mid-life crisis. Correct me if i am wrong but wasn't Connery much younger, therefore, more believable at the secret agent stuff.

    George Lazenby is Austrailian, Azezil.

Bullman, Roger Moore was first choice to play Bond in '62
but did'nt get the gig, becasue of other commitments.
Ian Flemming had a Roger Moore like charactorisation
in mind when the first film was mooted.

Fave Bond unquestionably Connery, although I grew up seeing the Roger Moore films in the cinema, so I have a soft spot for him even though he's so camp and cheesy.

Fave film is Live & Let Die even though it's a Moore one - Harlem, voodoo, Jane Seymour hamming it up as Solitaire, groovesome soundtrack, the Man Who Cannot Die (still puts the spooks up me, although I think he's kind of foxy too) - you can't lose.

Just picked up a bunch of original 60s Bond paperbacks in a charity shop, there's a lot less humour than in the films and Bond is even more of a mysoginist prick, but they're better than I expected. I can see why Casino Royle was made as a pisstake (my second fave bond film), the original story is far to uneventful to do as a straight Bond film.

Oh yeah - fave Bond soundtrack: Goldfinger.

hmmm i was sure i seen a documentary about him, n it said he was an Italian model? but a quick search confirmed he's austrailian.

Timothy Dalton was the best Bond with Brosnan a close second.3rd was Roger Moore.I dunno why but I never highly rated the Sean Connery outings. The best Bond film was The Living Daylights.I think so anyway. The 1 were Dalton had to destroy a huge drugs factory in south america and in the end burned the drug baron to death from a lighter which was given to him by his black american CIA friend whos legs had been taken off in a shark attack which killed his wife after they were both thrown in the sharks pool.Phew:) thats a mouthful!

I liked lazenby. OHMSS was one of the best films imo. He was supposed to have been a complete arse on set though.
Connery was best, despite the awful diamonds are forever.
You can't blame Moore for the direction the films took in his time, but he's still as wooden as a stick.

    Best bond soundtrack: Goldfinger.

Ahhh.... I love the bond films.
Anyone who thinks anyone but Connery was the best doesn't know what they're talking about.... :) Kidding, but... as far as the books are concerned, Bond is supposed to be a príck. All he cares about is getting the job done, so he would kill all the women after he'd slept with them (usually) I reckon Connery was the best 'cos I think he was the meanest, but also the gadgets weren't as rediculous as the Moore films. Was it Moonraker? A poxy gondola turns into a speedboat??? and a pidgeon does a double take?? Rediculous.

Best film Dr. No - Ursula Andress anyone??? :D
Anyway, Connery was the man - "Yesh Mish Moneypenny.... shplendid" :)

As for the worst Bond actors Timothy Dalton was crap and Lazenby was pathetic, then coms Moore and I'd say Brosnan is closest to Connery as any will get.

I like pierce but I don't think he has had a really decent bond film yet. At least he dosen't look like a spa when he comes out with the corny lines.

Connery first, Pierce second and ill always have a soft spot for Moore because i grew up watching him.
Best film and score is you only live twice(yes even after the Robbie williams mangling).

    Dalton doesnt even rate.

YOLT is probably the best theme song alright (ye can't beat the dulcet tones of the lovely Nancy...), but for overall score, Goldfinger wins. The bit accompanying the scene where he finds the girl covered in Goldfinger was sampeld to great effect in 'Overground' by the Sneaker Pimps. And then there's the go-go-Goldfinger in the nightclub.... niccce...

I am with George I do not think Pierce has had a film worthy of him yet to decide if he is as good as Connery or Moore. I think Moore was the best, he was such a droll man I think his one liners were excellent. Do not really have a favourite bond film. Favourite song is For your Eyes only, probably cause I had a thing for Sheena Easton back then.

    Film: Dr. No
    Actor: Mr. Connery

He is a legend. No matter where his character was from he always had a scottish accent!

I gave my vote to Dalton, I think Connery has to be recognised as what everyone else aspires to, but Dalton gets overlooked for his films, mainly because there were only two. He gave Bond a darker side, especially "Licence to kill", wheras Moore played it almost totally as a comedy. I'm not a big fan of Brosnan as Bond, think he tries to be Connery too much, plus the films he's been in havn't exactly been the most inventive Bonds ever either. Lazenby deserves some credit too, I think he would have been Ok for 4 or 5 Bonds.

There is no way u can defeat the amazing cool that is connery and his almost orgasmic Bond in Dr. No

who do ya think should be the new bond after brosnan gets the boot?? any hands for Jude Law

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 gertrude

jason isaacs. very daltonesque. jude law is too clean for bond.

Voted for connery, hes had the best scripts. If i was to go purely on attitude and forget the scripts he had been given, id choose Brosnan - hes the perfect guy for bond, pitty their giving him such crap scripts :(

Isaacs is a bit too snide or something for bond. Not charismatic enough.

Connery was the best, although Brosnan doesn't half do a bad job! :)
