There's talk of it launching tommorow. See digitalspy.co.uk .

The message from Sky however seems to be: Expect it when you see it!

Forget what I've just posted - here it is from the horse's mouth!

    British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC
    Press Release: 18th February 2002

Sky News - still first, as Britain's most popular news channel launches Sky News Active 8-screen
Sky News has announced today that from tomorrow, Tuesday, 19th February 2002, Sky News Active, the world's first interactive television news service, will offer even more choice.
The enhanced, re-designed service doubles the number of video options for viewers to choose from - to eight. It also gives them even
more opportunity to have their say with easier voting and a new email option. And it affords more freedom to self-select the news.

    Eight screens
The new Sky News Active is based around eight video screens. As before, viewers can choose to watch the headlines, all the latest weather forecasts, the most up-to-date business headlines plus a round-up of all the showbiz stories.
As well as watching Sky News, the new service will also enable viewers to watch the current top video story – when you want it. And two live screens will bring the latest headlines from across the Atlantic with bulletins from Fox News and CBS News, or allow users to go behind the scenes to view live pictures from Sky’s newsroom and gallery.

More choice of the news you want
Live events around the world can be shown on any of the Sky News Active screens and all these options can be backed up with text and graphics, that viewers are able to customise themselves. So, for example, they’ll be able to watch the latest weather forecast whilst catching up on their share portfolio.

    Select your own Ticker
Viewers are also able to choose from a range of business, news and sport tickers, which can be selected to scroll along the bottom of the
    screen.
Easier for viewers to have their say
Voting – Since launching its unique voting service in March 2001, Sky News Active has received well over two million votes. That will continue on the new service, with the results constantly updated so viewers can see how their views compare with others.
Email - And now, viewers will also be able to email Sky News directly with their opinions, simply be pressing the blue button on their handset.

Head of Sky News, Nick Pollard said, "Sky News Active is a revolutionary TV news service which puts viewers in control. As our competitors struggle to catch-up, the new 8-screen service will ensure that Sky News maintains its reputation as the first place to turn to - wherever you are - for breaking news."

Only this month Sky News Active has been awarded the Best Interactive Service at What Satellite TV's Viewer Awards 2001.
Head of Sky News Interactive, Steve Bennedik, said, "We're delighted that Sky News Active has been voted the best interactive application by
What Satellite TV’s readers. We hope that our new 8-screen Active service proves just as popular."

That is fantastic, very good gaffes of Sky News presenters, espically Natasha Kaplinski's food in mouth syndrome..... :p:p
Also, good to see Mark Sagers, who is now on 5 Live on Sundays....
