    Hi,
is there any way to "bring back" a process that was running in a term, but which the term has died?

i can see that its still running fine, but i can't get access to the term to get to it.

    thoughts?

    Hi,

In future if you use screen (bundled with rh7.2 www.rpmfind.net for other distros) to start the process, you can detach and attach back to it as often as you want. Im not sure if you can attach to it if the binary was not started with screen.

MiCr0, the only way to bring a process back from the dead once the term has died is to usually use fg. But since it wasn't ctl +z or u didnt use bg to send it to the background, nor did you or do you use screen, it can not be brought back to life. If it is running some calculations ask it to give up nicely, ie use "killall program name" which asks the process to finish up and write files and stuff and then die. if this doesnt work, im afraid u mite as well just kill -9 it and start again. But using screen is a must, especially when you keep loosing terms. USE screen IT doesnt BITE!!!

What are you blathering about man. of course Screen works with BitchX, how in the hell do i keep a 24/7/365 presence on irc if screen didnt work with BitchX.
Screen is a virtual terminal program and will work with any unix app. its just like a shell, but its intelligent and will let you conect back to it at a later stage.
