I think Reid will be there. Should be anyway....proves his worth! Will figure before Kennedy too.

What about the Left Full position? Harte is too slow and is so easy to pass. Sooner the better that Carr is back so that we can at least experiment with him on the left! Otherwise we will be stook with either Harte or Staunton!!!! Who's worse....

I think Staunton would be better in the centre, he was never the fastest and the wing position wouldn't help him. It's a shame we would lose the free-kicks and attacking play that Harte would bring but he is very suspect at the back. Not sure though, Carr is pretty much needed as a right back. There's not a whole lot of cover in the area. Possibly as you said use a full-back out of position Carr or Finnan, but then, does Finnan give us more than Harte?

finnan gives us a stronger defensive set up but are you willing to do without the attacking force of harte and hes awsome dead ball skills.

i for one am not willing to make that sacrifice i say keep harte cause as i see it we do not enough options for goal scoring to leave him out.

I think Harte although not the best of defenders gets too much stick from Irish fans. Okay we all know he lacks a bit of speed and sometimes his positional play is questionable (got drawn infield too much last night, too square as well) but hey he does give us something special from set-pieces.
There is always a buzz when we get a free kick near the oppositions goal, right?
Now I for one don't think we will score too many goals in the WC but with Harte playing, he will be a big danger to all the teams in our group.
Also did'nt we keep a clean sheet against Russia?
Was'nt our defensive record in the qualifyings pretty good (with Harte an everpresent)?
So c'mon give him a break, in fact a bit of encouragement maybe?

I think there is an arguement for trying Harte on the left side of midfield. That way we would not lose the free kick ability and he is also not a bad long distance passer of the ball. Then I would stick Staunton in behind him at left full. Since he got back into the Villa first team he has come on in leaps and bounds. Only way that will work though is if Kenny Cunningham stays fit between now and the world cup. He did not look to have much of a touch the other night. It should also be remembered that if Harte was dropped, Staunton has a very good freekick as well, he may not be as prolific but he is still a very decent kick taker.
