Can someone please explain to me exactly why Mark Kennedy is still part of Mick McCarthy's "plans". Did anyone see this spineless me fein one-foot fool tonight against the Russians? Jesus...

It's a mystery, in the same way that Kevin 'I'll put the ball past the opposing defender, run past him, and then either put in a miserable attempt at a cross, or be exposed as the hopeless prat I am' Kilbane gets a game.

If you consider that David Connolly will be going to the World Cup while Ryan Giggs isn't and never will, it's a fucking travesty :)

is this the same Kilbane who had a hand in both goals? :)

Agreed on the Connolly part tho:)

Please Castor don't even compare that pile of excrement Kennedy with Kilbane. At least Kilbane gets crosses in and does something with the ball.

    Gandalf.

Hopefully McCarthy will have realised how crap Kennedy is, particularly when he can't even be arsed to run after a ball which he could have easily reached if he wanted. The arrival of Healy might also confine Carsley to the scrap heap, which wouldn't be before time.

My bigger worry is Harte. Okay, he can take great free kicks and he's a good passer of the ball, but he's a sh!te defender. If he goes to the World Cup, which no doubt he will, then he's going to have to score a goal a game just to cover the goals he gives away. Far too easily turned and doesn't appear to know how to mark someone, or at least not for more than five seconds.

btw Love the idea of a ref from Ringsend ref-ing an Irish International match. I wonder if anyone mentioned this to the Russians.

I am with Castor. I think both players are very poor. I would rather see Duff on the left and Morrison up front, or maybe experiment by moving Harte up the left side and slooting Staunton in as left full.

I don't like Mark Kennedy either, in my opinion he is just plain lazy and I certainly would not have him in my team.

However, I remember one under 21 international game where I saw Kennedy play, a good few years ago (Charlton was still senior international team manager at the time).

I can't remember the opposition, but I do remember my opinion of him in the match, he was absolutely brutal and the majority of the sizeable crowd in Richmond Park felt the same: he should have been pulled off before half time.
BUT, about half way through the second half (again after a dismal performance), he scored an absolute cracker of a goal with which we won the match.

Therfore the reason I believe he is still in Mick's plans is because he does have ability to produce the occasional bit of magic.
If only he would move his hole.

Kennedy is a prat, a twat and useless. He was absolutely ****e last nite.

Kilbane is a better player but will get rode in the WC.

Have to agree that I would love to see corky duff on the left and morrison and keane up front
    Sadlier looked a bit lost

I think we need Duff up front, Morrisson hasn't enough experience yet, to play in the WC.

What about bringing Reid to the WC instead of Kennedy?

I think McCarthy is blind towards Kennedy, I don't see any way he won't bring him to the world cup, although assuming kevin kilbane stays fit, he's not going to see much action. I'm also assuming that the midfield/strikeforce will be mcateer, roy keane, kinsella(or holland), kilbane with Robbie Keane and either Niall Quinn or Duffer up front, also allows Ireland to go back to a 5-man midfield when trying to defend a lead (hopefully that will happpen), with Duff dropping back. The area that worries me most is defence, no performances to write home about last night in that area, maybe Andy O'Brien if he's not so nervey.

O Brien is Ok but he is very slow. Quinn has injury problems. I am hoping Gary Doherty gets back to action soon as he can play both positions fairly well, even though he is largely untested at international level, he may be a good utility player for the squad.

We've come this far with him!

Maybe he is a lucky charm or somthing?

What about Alan Mahon for the left berth?

He can attack, defend, and can bring other players into the game.

He can be worse than Kennedy, and brings some more skill than Kilbane.

what happened to kennedy never playing for ireland again after that jumping on car sh!t?

The sad thing is, the only decent thing he's ever done was scoring that goal for Milwall against Arsenal.

He's turned in some decent football for his club side
Wolves (who will be promoted this season!).

Duff is are only hope !!!

Robbie Keane seems to have lost his pace and i wont even start on kennedy, kilbane etc etc

As the expert Johnny Giles once said "what we need here is a break , an own goal or something"

Bad news just in from across the water. Mark Kennedy scores two for Wolves this weekend. One of them, apparently, is a contender for goal of the season. Now that's the most terrible news one could hear right now... As deluded sports hacks might say coming close to World Cup time: "he's booked his spot on the flight to Japan with that"

Its goals like that one against Stockport which mean Kennedy will be on the plane, only the real problem with Kennedy and Ireland is that he'll end up on the right side when he should be where Kilbane is.

    Mike.
