I imagine it is possible but I wanted some opinions on whether it's a good idea or not.

I have Sky digital at the moment and am wondering if can I do this:
Can I splice into the coax cable running from my dish to my digibox (in sitting room) and run a second digibox from it ?

What I would doing, would be using a high quality passive splitter and running a second length of cable to a second digibox (bought second hand) in the bedroom.

Would there be a quality drop if both digiboxes were on at the same time ?

This is not possible as the cable from the digibox controls the polarity and frequency type at the LNB. What you need to do is get a dual (or quad) LNB which is basically two (or four) LNBs build into one unit. You can then connect up to 4 digiboxes to the one dish.
