I don't see how the hammer throw is a sport where competitors always go backwards? But I'm not a Hammer Throw pundit. If its cos they're going anti-clockwise or something, that's not backwards.

Abseiling, does downwards mean the same thing as backwards? Or if when they are climbing they are moving forwards, while they are going downwards they are moving backwards? I don't see how that would work.

And in tug-o-war, if one team is going backwards, then the other is going forwards. So the competitors are not always going backwards.

Perhaps tug-o-war could be included if the question was rephrased to say "There are four sports inwhich competitors need to go backwards in order to achieve they're goal." or something like that.

Just some little niggling doubts about that list, that's all.
