I have a problem! I'm invited to a fancy dress party this Monday and its a 70s party! Unfortunately I'm 18 and have no experience with 70's clothes. Flares come to mind! But I don't have any! Has anyone any other ideas? I was thinking about a costume shop! I'd get the wig and all but does anyone know if these are really expensive? Or even where I'd find one?

    Loads of questions!

Also I was just thinking, imagine someday when I had kids, and they say, hey dad what did you wear in the 90's and I'll just say clothes!

go down to oxfam and find the tackiest shirt you can find.
preferably bight, and if it has beads all the better.
get some flaired cords if you can and wear an old pair of canvas shoes.
lastly, get your self one of those big scouser curley hair wigs, and tie a bandana around it jimi hendrix style.

    now, you got jazz.....

Go to the Eager Beaver in Temple bar! you can probably find something tacky for cheap there.

ahh the good old 70's theme night. it never gets old. i would suggest that instead of picking any old 70's tacky s**t from a second hand store, have something or someone in mind that you want to look like. for example, Serpico. what else you want, hes got style, hes mean plus hes a cop and a reason to have handcuffs on you on the night.

    serpico, pure style

You could go as one of those YMCA dudes (can't remember name), you know the cop, the indian, the builder and the sailor (?). Of course you would have to be 'confident in yourself'.

LOL There all great ideas! I think going as someone everyone knows is a good idea! Although I think it would have to be OJ Simpson from Naked Gun:) You know the bit were he can't get through the door cos his afro is too big! I thing a wig is important! Anyway thanks a million for all the ideas! If anyone else has any suggestions please keep adding them!

you can get great wigs in the wig shop on the ground floor of the Stephens Green Centre - the black afro is the one to go for!

I just have to say that in Saturday Night Fever, John Travolta was indeed THE DUDE!!

"There's only one thing to do at a time like this...strut!" - Bart Simpson

    So true.

You could strut your way in through the door!
    Now there's an entrance!
