Besides getting an ftv card is there any other way of recieving this channel.

I have the standard sky digital system and i have it in my other channels but i am recieving no signal.

There IS a signal up there for Channel 5, but because your viewing card is for Sky digital in the ROI, C5 is blocked from the EPG. I often viewed this channel before it stopped broadcasting on Astra 19 degrees. Unless you have a specific programme that you want to watch, Channel 5 is basically a "Crap" station. Occasionally it provided a programme that i cared to watch, but to be honest the programme output of Bravo is superior to that of Channel 5 !!!!!!!

    Jaysus, that's unbelievable.
I did not think they came much worse than Bravo or Men & Motors.

Theonly thing that interests me is the Leeds United game against PSV in the uefa cup later this month. Other than that i have no interest in Channel 5.

    Thanking You...

    Hi Sky Digi Kid
Depending on where you are it is possible to get Ch 5 off the air with a roof top aerial and amp.
A good Presely group B,masthead amp etc will bring it in for you if you are on the East Coast anywhere south of Killiney Hill.
The further south the better it gets as long as theres nothing obvious in the way(like Bray head!).
Ch 5 is the strongest and easiest to receive Presely signal.

Dont for get to retune your VCR and Sky Box RF because CH5 clashes with the VCR output. It did here when ch5 started up first.

I get CH5 through a regular aerial ,trust me its not worth bothering about.

I am sure that pubs will show that leeds match. C5 is a waste of time. The match makes a good excuse to go to the pub (if one is ever needed!)

Does anyone know if Ch5 can be received with an aerial in cork?

No. you can't get channel 5 from an aerial in Cork. It is not relayed by any of the deflector companies as far as I know and we are too far from a british transmitter to pick it up.

You will need to get TVX or something similar.

Thing to do is check who has a UK aerial in your area and how close they are to you.
Unless theres something between you and the coast a grid aerial with amp will do the trick-ask in the nearest tv shop and they'll tell you how much-but probably less than €100

you may get something. last night i decided to play around with the television and i plugged the aerial on the roof into the telly along with a set of rabbit ears which are set up in the bedroom upstairs and i was shocked to see a very poor Channel 4 on UHF number 32 which is the south west of England. i thought the weather had something to do with it, plugged out the rabbit ears and it dissappeared, plugged it in again it returned. not bad considering i am outside Dungarvan. i will be keeping an eye on it for the rest of the week. a new aerial and new masthead amp may be going on the roof ASAP

    Hi Mossy,
That ch 4 on uhf ch32 was winging it's way to Waterford all the way from Cornwall!!! You have an excellent sea path there and a powerfull tx(caradon).
If you had a group A pointed in its direction you would get a clear picture a lot of the time-we do up here, maybe 80 miles further away!

I just wonder is there are folk out there, who subscribe to the channels that are always advertised by satellite installers in What Satellite?

Not that I am interested, no no, quite frankly, I find it sad if you have to go to those lengths to get a hand shandy.....

(no offence to those who may have them channels, if you were a mate, I'd call 'round!!!)
