Im away studying for the year in Germany, and I was just thinking how lucky I am to have a years holiday, so while contemplating my fortune I had a thought for the people back home, and I was wondering if you could spend a year abroad where would it be??

    France - I love it!

in the summer it's wonderfully warm, and I could eat the food and drink the wine until I turned into that first dead chap in the movie 'Seven'
In fact, it's as good a way to die as any :)

Friendly people, and the drinks are dynamite.(Rum rum rum).

    Norway or Sweeden!!

It doesn't get dark there during the summer.

But then I suppose it does during the winter......but that all put aside, some of the best skiing in the world.

Another good thing is the majority of ladies in Norway and Sweeden are very nice :)

Have been to France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Spain, US, Turkey, England, China and Vietnam and the place I liked the most was China.
It’s not a place for most people going on holidays but it’s a great place to travel around in if your looking for an interesting place and not looking for creature comforts

Can't believe this oppression of the beloved god of Games: the Atari Jaguar. Is this an act of agression by the Travel/ Hols board?

Do you really want to mess the twin powers of Shinji and amp? Along with all of our beloved followers?

    No.

Because we have evolved beyond that barbarism. Hostility and violence are not the way brothers and sisters. Peace and love are all. After all do we not all love games? Do we not love peacefull holidays?

    BOARDS.IE GROUP HUG!

Any ancient ruined city in a desert.

New Zealand and if I get a visa gonna go in July.

But pretty much anywhere, where the sun shines more than five minutes a week.

    Davros,

You would probalby like Petra in Jordan..

The scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Dome, when they are on horse back riding through that small canyon going to the temple..

Talk about a ruined city. But really nice

    Davros,

I reckon you are right, cannonfodder. Someday I'd love to do a "Lawrence of Arabia" tour of Jordan and Syria, taking in Petra.

Some ruined desert cities I can personally vouch for are Persepolis and Arg-e-Bam in Iran, and Gaochang and Jiaohe in NW China.

In part, it's the idea of treading in the very footsteps of Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan. Makes those epic historical figures seem more real.

I've never been to New Zealand but anyone who has says it is spectacular.

    Davros

Strangely enought the reason I am going to NZ, other than being there for a sickenly short 21 hours before is,

To Follow in the Footsteps of Frodo,

    The Little b4stard.

Sat thru Lord of the Rings and missed the film from just looking at the senery.

    Switzerland :)

Been there twice now, its one *amazing country*, spent a week in it each time.

Travelled first time flight to england and on a bus from there across on the ferry from Dover to Callais, down to Paris for a day and then on to Switzerland, an exhausting journey, but considerably cheaper than flying direct :)

Stayed in Meringuin (i dont know the spelling) both times, place where they invented Meringues (again spelling)... nyom :)

The people tend to be very friendly and if you try to speak French/German then they'll take to you -- got several discounts in cafes for trying to be polite ! :)

Visit Bern if you can, it's great! The Schilthorn (mountain) is fabulous. I even got up to the rotating cafe at the top of one of the mountains where a bit of James Bond (On her majesty's secret service) was filmed. Standing a foot away from a glacier and stuff like that :)

    Gotta B France.
Take the car and the Michelin guides (Red and Green). Drive on great roads. Eat fantastic food.
And the wine! F##K me their wine is F#####g brillant! And at reasonable price! Load up the car on the way back with your years supply.

And Paris in the spring time. Get a cheap Ryanair flight and you have a weekend in Paris 4 nothin!

    Great country!

best holidays I have been on ( and will definitely be back )

    1) Livigno , Italy - good skiing, nitelife and duty free shopping
    2) hersonissos , crete - crete has lots to offer most type of tourist. hersonissos is great for someone who wants to relax during the day and go mad every nite ..
couldn't handle more than a week of either place mind you .. I might never want to leave!!
