Is it just me or is 'Paths to Freedom' one of the best Irish-made comedies/TV shows RTÉ has put on in a long while? I missed the first run of it last year, but I've watched every one of the reruns being shown at the moment (Mondays 9:30pm Net2) and its bloody hilarious! Half an hour just isn't enough! Any one else watch it?

Once its finished, a new series made by the same people called 'Fergus' Wedding' will be shown. I can't wait.

There's an article on the two here:
Paths to Freedom's writers, Ian Fitzgibbon and Michael McElhatton, are now shooting a new comedy-drama - Fergus's Wedding. As before, Fitzgibbon is also directing and McElhatton is acting: here he plays the titular Fergus, a buck-toothed dolt on the brink of marriage. "A very dull man," he explains. "Allergic to fresh vegetables. He gets involved with the world of sexual swingers. But he's more concerned with who's not been putting money in the kitty for the biscuits and mini-pizzas than with the sex."

Apparently it was screened to test audiences a while ago, and they were in fits - they missed a plot-critical line at the end of one episode because they were laughing so much!! Sounds good.

Can't wait for the new series, it sounds good. Paths to Freedom was one of the funniest programmes I've seen on tv full stop, never mind Irish tv. I hope the guy who played Barney is in the new one too, he was great.

I didnt see it first time round and although it may be slightly overated by some ppl it still is a great show.Great quote last night when they went up to get Rats wife and kids back and meet the wifes boyfriend
    Rats[to boyfriend]-And who are you?
    Englishman-Im Sharons friend?
Rats-Aw realy pal?[points at his friend Tommo]Well Im Tommos friend but Im not shagging him am I?
The best of the series was when he was reading his poetry in Grafton Street and was acccosted by a guard
Guard-You cant use this word here[pointing at poetry]
    Rats-Which one?Doggystyle?

Best line I've heard so far was last night:

Belfast Bar Girl: We're going to a fancy dress party Friday, we're all going as French Maids..

    Rats: I'm allergic to mayonnaise

    :)
