So did i hear correct when they some1 said that the Jason Byrne show is gone i.e cancelled?

Would i be the only to say good riddance?
    Did any actually like it?

I'm not commenting on his comediac skills but im saying he cant do a show for sh1t!! The only remotely funny bits were from the usually crap guests >:(

it's been axed apparently, - yes...

and that is a VERY GOOD THING... it was utter crap.

He's not even a terribly good standup comedian - best thing on his show was Podge & Rodge- but they're great on their own anyway.

    Good riddance???... agreed!!!

The show was $hite yes, but he's an outstanding stand-up. His ad-libbing skills alone make it worth seeing him several times, even soon after each other.

As has been said already, the show was a load of b0llocks and I'm glad it's gone, he was excellent live though, especially with a small audience (bout 20), he had time to go through almost everyone individually and take the piss :), I'd go again given the chance.

OH god i thought the audience was the worse, no matter what the persons accent was he thought it was hilarious and felt compelled to repeat what the guy had said in a "hilarious twist"

I just thought i'd say that and no more cause i dont want this to be reduced to a bitching thread on jason byrne

Ah he wasn't that bad surely?

I remembered watching some of his shows alright, and I agree, they didn't exactly set the tv alight with comedic talent, but some things on it were funny...anyone remember that one where, at the end of the show, this Bond-like music started up and he went behind a curtain and these instruments , one by one, started floating out from behind it?

It was so stupid it was funny...i like that kind of humour...ahem...sorry

I thought the show was damn funny. Especially at the start when he was rippin the piss out of the audience. And the one with Joe Dolan- LOL!! There were some really funny parts but I will admit that at times he tried too hard but I have seen him doing stand up and didn't think he was funny at all. It wasn't like he had some funny bits then tried too hard on a joke and ruined it but he tried too hard all the time.It was the same on RUM which he should be ashamed of, what a godawful show. His own show was the only time I have seen him make some funny jokes without going over the top and think it's a shame that it won't be on anymore.

they should have that NAVAN NAVAN guy doing a show, mmmmmm, Tommy Tiernan, or Phil Kay (NOT[/] Peter Kay who's just a git) He had a show before and was brillant, took a bus tour with him at the Kilkenny Comedy Festival, best thing there!

    Gid.

He's very very good live, have seen him 5 or 6 times around dublin, never fails to make the audience burst out laughing, unfortunaly with the tv show he reused most of his previous stand-up material... add that to the terrible interviews, woeful sketchs (cept for the irish "speaking" ones), unenthusiastic guests (apart from podge&rodge).

I actually felt sorry for the poor guy who thought it would be a good idea in the first place... talk about falling flat on its face... also jason byrnes reputation has taken a bad hit with this show in ireland regardless of the "he's great live tho" comments, his shows will still sell-out though hopefully.
Also tv comedy shows generally need to be scripted in order to be consistently funny to the tv watching public, this wasn't. ever.

I think the show was below average and he's over rated as a stand up comedian. He uses silly voices and funny faces coupled with mostly rather lame attempts to pull the piss out of the audience to subsitute clever intelligent well thought out jokes. Maybe I just like a different kind pf comedy e.g. Bill Hicks or even Jack Dee

Iorish Men just don't fit into American comedy. It just doesn't work

(Nor Scots -remember when Billy Connolly did one -that sucked large also)
