Live Saturday Afternoon Premiership Football

I am wondering about the prospect of Live Premiership Football at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon being shown in the Republic of Ireland.
I remember years ago the E.U. passing some convoluted bill that banned the showing of live Premiership football at 3pm.
The reason for doing so was to encourage people to participate in Sport themselves.
Now it seems that almost every country in Western Europe has access to these matches . It seems that this bill has been overcome.
Canal + shows them in Spain and Holland and they are also shown in Germany. Many more countries as well I am sure.
What is to stop RTE or TV3 showing these matches ?
Or do SKY have the rights for the Republic as well as the U.K.
It was be a huge boost for Saturday afternoons and replace the trash that currently occupies this slot.
Is there some law passing a bid being made ?
Think of it Interactive Football on RTE on a Saturday

The Belgard in Tallaght show a game every Saturday. Its not RTE but foreign satellites. Maybe some other pubs do the same.

Quite a few pubs show live premiership matches on a saturday via foreign channels.

RTE used to do this years ago but Sky pulled the plug. The apparent UK ban on showing saturday afternoon football seems a bit dated now. Why not make it PPV?

Does anyone remember the 1/2 hour delayed football on saturdays that RTE used to show. There was always some dipstick with a radio giving away the real time score to everyone in the pub.

Most certainly, get a sub of C+ Holland, it`s on Astra 1, encrypted in Irdeto and Seca/Mediaguard.
Unfortunaly you have to live in Holland.:(
BTW I watch my saturday afternoon footy on Premiere World (german)with english commentary.

If you subscribe to Canal+ satellite, you also get all the Dutch terrestrial channels for free, as part of the package. One of those terrestrial channels, RTL5, have the rights for the Sunday and mid-week matches (the "Sky" ones).

Yes great guide Chernobyl. I'm afraid you cannot use a sky digital system for this purpose, you need a receiver with a cam slot (digenius, humax etc)and at least a seca cam although an Irdeto allcam patched would give you even more channels.

Thanks but its not mine, it a combination of a guide from the guys in ProjectX who did it a while ago, when almost everything was available and brought up to date for current encryptions and match offerings.
