Does Eircom.net or any of the Irish ISPs support v.92? I tried finding out more info from their website but can't get any information.

This was discussed about a month ago - short answer no. See http://troll.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37945&highlight=v.92 for a thread on it.

V.92 is not supported by any ISP's in Ireland AFAIK, and certantly not by Eircom.net or Indigo. Why should it be, where's the sense in spending all that money on the upgrading of the modem banks to V.92 when A)the majorty of the installed customer base do not use V.92 modems and B) when the protocol has no major advantages over V.90. It just wouldn't be commercially viable

V.92 is to speed up downloads......Ive been told its a noticeable improvements over V.90 in using multiple mirror sites in downloading......

unfortunately even AOL hasnt updated its software for it.......although it doesnt produce problems if you have the right drivers

You can't speed up downloads over the (theoretical) 56K limit so that's not right. Apparently it supports download resuming and as you say multiple mirrors at the same time, but DAP will do that over a v.90 connection. It also allows for call waiting - it will hold your data call and allow you take a voice call. It has some other features I think, but I can't remember them, so the upgrade to v.92 simply wouldn't be worth it....:)
