Gaelic - Dublin Divided?

Should Dublin be split into two teams? Dublin North and Dublin South?
Personally I think it is wrong and should'nt happen. I like to know how many members of the "commitee" who decided this are from Dublin seeing that it is the Dublin supporters who are affected?

Sure where would Dublin South play? Can't be Croke Park as that would be the home of Dublin North? :)

If it's split Rugby will win on the Southside, Therefore Gaelic Football(the only good Gaa sport - in my opinion obviously) will die there.

Since Rugger Buggers generally have interest in nothing but Rugby, soccer dies there too, Gaa people like soccer (generally), thats why it doesn't get my vote.

The only argument for it would be a Derby in Gaa

I'm not a big "GAA" man meself but....

I can only conceive what will happen from what happened from my experience when the leinster cricket union did the same thing.
It meant it weakened both North & South Leinster Sides and when neither won a damn thing for about 15 years because the Nothern Cricket Union was so strong in the Interpros, they just merged again.

I cant see how it will benefit anyone....Surley the Dubs want to win the All-Ireland??

Why split? Ye can't even win with the team thats there, what makes them think they can win something with 2 lesser teams? :)

The idea to split was intended so that to promote more GAA in Dublin. Also With 1/4 of the population living in dublin you can imagine how difficult it is to make it to the county team as well as into local club level.
so i reckon they wanted to create seperate club leagues in that there would be northside leagues and southside leagues

The idea itself wouldnt work though and i think its going to be knocked down.

i can understrand gaelic football but Hurling is one fantastic and most entertaining sport.

I think Dublin should promote more hurling than football

    Agreed-

But Dublin are even worse at Hurling then they are at GAA Football..

As was already said, a 1/4 of the country's population live in Dublin, so I think this splitting decision was made in light of this..

i.e. There should is a far greater selection of players to make a squad in Dublin as oppossed to, let's say, the entire province of Connaught. So it is also in the name of fairness... (although it's really just the GAA tryin' to screw more money out of the public:o :D )

I think Dublin should be split up - but not Northside / Southside - it will just reinforce sterotypes. Even with Northside / Southside, the Southside will have a population of close enough to 600,000 - one and a half time bigger than Cork and 24 times that of Leitrim.

Rugby isn't that strong in the South Dublin Co. Co area (yes there is St. Mary's and DLSP, but nothing compared to D4-Blackrock. The split won't kill the Soutside.

I don't give to monkeys about GAA, but this is a bad idea anyway.
Dublin is growing at the rate of 10 stereotypes/day* we don't need more fuel for the rascist fire in this city.

    whats the piont?
the dubs can't win anything with the population they have, so how does it make sense to split it into two!
it will go from 1 crap team, to 2 really crap teams!!!!
    You find the logic?

I do not think it is such a bad idea. I really like the idea of a dublin derby match, and think that if it is done right it could benefit the sport in the area. Also it would mean that I would not have to support a team that includes Jason Sherlock any more and I have been wanting that for years now.
