I was looking in the boards shop and saw:
Each item costs £18 IEP or £23 Euro including Delivery and Vat

What sort of price is "£23 Euro"? :)

presumably it should say €23, Victor.

you dont complain about £18 IEP :)

In the banking world (where I worked for a long time) its standard to put the Pounds sign or the Dollar sign in front of the number and the exact currency after it.

£18 could mean Irish pounds or English pounds so you would always clarify it exactly.

    Tell me this though :)
Were you in any confusion about what it meant? do you think anyone of reasonable average intelligence could have been confused about it ?

However a square box in front of a number (such as I see in Bards post).... is not as enlightening.

Thats a € sign as in euro on my puter....not a box!
Do you have it installed on your pc??

he knows that it was an example he was making. If someone sees a box in front of the price instead of some currency symbol it is more confusing, is the point he was trying to make.

indeed and on my 98 machine which is otherwise perfectly ok... its a box.

If its a box for me, its probably a box for a lot of other people...

while it works at home it doesnt seem to work here in college, so maybe for a while its best to have things like 55 EUR.

Maybe one of us has the wrong handle here but shouldn't it say

Was: Each item costs £[pound sign]18 IEP or £[pound sign]23 Euro including Delivery and Vat
New: Each item costs £[pound sign]18 IEP or €23 Euro including Delivery and Vat

£[pound sign]18 IEP is perfect acceptable, £[pound sign]23 Euro (or £[pound sign]18 Euro) would not.
